Exploring Life & Business with Rayjene Pickett of Gifted Hands Hair Braiding

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rayjene Pickett

Hi Rayjene, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for styling started around the age of 12. I actually taught myself to braid using a toy Barbie Doll.

At 16 years old, I began to perform services on my family and friends. This continued for almost 10 years. Making money wasn’t the goal during this time, I solely wanted to perfect my craft.

After many years of practice, I decided that I was now ready to begin marketing myself as a braider. My dream of turning a passion into a stream of income no longer seemed so unattainable.

Fast forward to today, at 28 years old, I’ve successfully started up my own home-based braiding business, Gifted Hands Hair Braiding.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has been anything
but easy.

I’ve battled with a lot of self-doubt and self-sabotage when it came to my gift. For a while, I allowed these negative thoughts to convince me that I wasn’t good enough and that I wasn’t qualified to be calling myself anything, especially a braider.

Overcoming this belief system took a lot of prayer and self reflection.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Gifted Hands Hair braiding, we specialize in creating stunning, braid styles that enhance your natural beauty and express your unique personality. Located in the comfort of my home, I offer a cozy and welcoming environment where you can relax and be pampered.

I specialize in the braiding and styling of ethnic and textured hair types. I’m known for being warm and inviting and for my neat and precise braid styles.

What sets me apart from others, I believe, is my heart. I genuinely care about each and every client that sits in my chair beyond just the physical. I care about their mental and spiritual well-being as well.

I’m most proud of the level of professionalism and consistency that my brand provides. My clients appreciate it too.

Here at Gifted Hands Hair Braiding, we are always accepting new clients. Whether your hair is super short and kinky, or long and coily we’ve got you covered.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Maintaining a strong relationship with Jesus Christ is what matters most to me.

It is truly by His grace alone that I’ve been able to accomplish all that I have.

Prioritizing my relationship with God, is extremely important to me because it keeps me grounded, humble, and operating from a place of gratitude.
