Exploring Life & Business with Rekiya Overstreet of Urban Woman Culture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rekiya Overstreet.

Hi Rekiya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Throughout my life I have always been known to be a “people person”, I have friends from all walks of life! It may be from school, work, past experiences, etc Nevertheless, I was able to meet them and place them in a position to network with others, something like a Connect! After relocating to Florida from Cincinnati, Ohio the networking & connections began to increase! May 2019, the first annual Urban Woman Conference was held in Cincinnati, Ohio with over 77 attendees, the event was an extreme success and a beginning to so much much!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s always challenges when you’re leading in networking and connections! And those same challenges will help you become a better person and learn from your mistakes!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Urban Woman Culture?
The Urban Woman Culture is a movement that takes action to strengthen and connect Urban Communities! We are known for our diverse, nonjudgmental approach while hosting affordable events, consulting, and community outreach throughout the world alongside sister business, IYA Foundation, Miami Beach!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The advice I have for women starting out in any business is to take of yourself (mentally, physically, emotionally) before and while starting any movement event, business, etc because if not it will catch up with you!
