Exploring Life & Business with Shane Campfield of Hurdle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Campfield.

Hi Shane, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was diagnosed with autism around six years old and right when I became a teenager I lost both my mom and dad. Learning through the school of hard knocks taught me how to be independent and a successful entrepreneur. I am a celebrity photographer as well as a DJ. Most importantly, an autism advocate. Both myself and a close friend of mine have started a motivational speaking group for autism called hurdle, which is an acronym for hard work, understanding, realization determination, leadership, and education. Our goal is to travel around the world, spreading positivity, unique ability awareness and motivation.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road. Facing hurdles, such as not having parents or a family in your life all the way to being bullied and being told you can never do something. I am a firm believer of struggle is temporary but necessary in order to be successful and to learn

As you know, we’re big fans of Hurdle. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Hurdle specializes in motivational, speaking for those with disabilities and empowering those that face hurdles in life. Who doesn’t right? My business partner, and myself having gone through a fair amount of hurdles we wanted to turn our struggles around and showcase them in a positive light and show as hope for others that no matter what situation or disability that you face it does not define who you are.

We love to speak at different conferences and schools, providing encouragement for the youth. Empowering and leading, the next generation will shape our world into a better and accepting society.

Hurdle has a few accolades under the belt. We have been featured on Orlando’s biggest news station WESH 2 News on our mission! They called us the champion of the month in June 2023. We have also spoken on different topics at a few major conferences around the Orlando area, such as The Family Cafe where we spoke about being well-versed with music and the effects, it has to those on the spectrum. At the CARD conference, we spoke about being on a spectrum and going through death and loss and what the grief process was like. It was a double spectrum. Not only did we talk about being on the spectrum, but grief in itself is a spectrum and many different people regardless the disability go through it differently.

Our goal is to reach people on a global level. It would be really fun to go to other countries to see what the different support systems and issues are and give our knowledge on how these systems can be improve.

We have a webseries out called “Spectrum of Hurdles”. We interview those with unique abilities and those that support them.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Always remember to live in the moment and cherish all the blessings in your life. If you do not think you have anything to be grateful for than take a step back and realize whatever you are going through may be a blessing in disguise. You will realize that in time.
