Today we’d like to introduce you to Silvia King.
Hi Silvia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In Mexico, I used to own a butchery but I decided to sell it and come to United States with my family. After working here for a while I started thinking about opening up a food truck. Then I met Daniel which is my husband at a warehouse we both worked at. After getting married, I told him about my idea of starting a food truck. He decided to support me and we both created the name Quesa Loco. After taking a huge risk and spending all the money we had and maxing out our credit cards, we bought our food truck. We quit our jobs and went full-time with our food truck. In the beginning, we were very scared as we were not busy and not making enough money to pay our bills. All our hard work and prayers paid off as eventually customers started coming. More and more every week, until we had lines so long we couldn’t even see the end. After a little over a year, we have now decided to open a brick and mortar because our customers deserve to sit and eat inside with their families. We have so much more food and love to offer.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning, we had very little money. We were struggling to pay our bills and buy supplies for the truck. Me and my husband were completely exhausted every day doing everything ourselves. But it was worth every single sacrifice we made.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Quesa Loco?
We are an authentic Mexican food truck with a restaurant opening soon. We specialize in Birria (a traditional plate in Mexico) and consommé (broth of the meat). We only cooked authentic Mexican food nothing Tex Mex. We make our own tortillas, we slice our own meats, we cook everything fresh to order, and all our Agua Frescas are made with fresh ingredients and fruits. In our restaurant, we will be serving much more authentic food as well as food from my city Tampico.
How do you think about happiness?
The look on the customers faces when there eating my delicious food and when they come back and say this is the best taco they ever ate. It completes me.
