Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonia Hamidi.
Hi Sonia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into audiology began with my father’s diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Watching him face the challenges that came with his condition, I saw how profoundly communication affects a person’s sense of connection and belonging. That experience sparked a deep desire in me to help others feel part of their families and communities again.
As I explored different paths in healthcare, audiology stood out because it blends science, technology, and meaningful human interaction. I was drawn to the way audiologists can transform lives by providing access to sound and communication.
I earned my Doctorate of Audiology from West Virginia University, where I received comprehensive training in diagnostics, amplification, cochlear implants, and patient counseling. My clinical experiences reinforced my belief in the power of hearing care to reclaim not just hearing—but dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Today, I’m proud to be the founder of HearClear Audiology, a private practice dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals experiencing auditory challenges. At HearClear Audiology, we focus on personalized care, advanced technology, and a patient-centered approach to ensure every person we serve feels heard, respected, and empowered.
For me, audiology isn’t just a career—it’s a calling. I’m passionate about helping people reconnect with the world around them that’s clear, meaningful, and full of life, and I feel privileged to play a role in that process every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—and I think that’s where the most meaningful growth has happened. One of the earliest challenges was simply the emotional weight of entering a helping profession because of my father’s Parkinson’s diagnosis. That personal connection drives me, while also making me realize early on how important it is to deliver compassionate care.
