Exploring Life & Business with Taneshia Walker of The Inner Peace Project

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taneshia Walker.

Hi Taneshia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in the field of education. I started out as a teacher, working with children from infancy through fifth grade in various roles from classroom teacher to assistant director and after-school instructor. I always had a deep passion for connecting with others and being helpful. But even then, I knew my purpose extended beyond the classroom.

I found true fulfillment in the moments when people would come to me for advice, insight, or emotional support and they’d leave our conversations feeling lighter, more at peace. Since childhood, I’ve had a natural calling to lead, guide, and uplift others, and that calling only grew stronger over time.

Eventually, I transitioned into working with children with special needs at a PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care) center. There, I helped support their cognitive, emotional, and developmental progress. It was rewarding work, but I still felt something inside of me pulling toward a deeper purpose one that allowed me to help people heal not just physically or mentally, but emotionally and spiritually as well.

There was a time I considered becoming a nurse, but even that path didn’t fully align with my spirit. After becoming a mother, I knew I needed to do something that not only gave me purpose but also allowed me the flexibility to be present for my child. That’s when everything shifted.

After going through my own personal healing journey in therapy, I experienced firsthand how transformative the right support can be. It lit a fire in me. I went on to pursue my certifications and diplomas in life coaching and mental health coaching. I didn’t want to follow the traditional, clinical model that simply involved listening and prescribing or assigning generic modules. I wanted to go deeper.

I connected with therapists, spiritual mentors, and shadow work coaches to expand my understanding and refine my methods. I didn’t want to just help clients vent I wanted to help them heal. I take a holistic, client-centered approach that focuses on their emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. I tailor every session to the individual, guiding them through self-awareness, shadow work, and transformation with intention and compassion.

For me, it’s not about telling people what to do it’s about walking beside them as they reconnect with their truth, find inner peace, and step into the highest version of themselves

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a completely smooth road, but it hasn’t always been rocky either. There were definitely moments of self-doubt times when I asked myself, “How can I help others when I feel like I need help too?” I had to pray through some of those doubts and really ask if I was capable, if I’d be judged, or if I could truly balance my personal and professional life while maintaining the emotional discipline it takes to lead others.

Becoming a mental health and life coach isn’t something you do on a whim it’s not a field for the faint of heart. It requires deep emotional maturity, strong boundaries, mental discipline, and above all, a true calling. There were times I failed exams or felt overwhelmed while studying, and I wanted to give up. But something inside me just wouldn’t let me.

I remember sitting in silence, crying, and thinking: If the Most High could use Noah, Moses, and David then surely, I can be used too. That moment reminded me that I was chosen for this. I had to answer the call on my life, even when it felt heavy.

Nothing good in life comes easily. You’ll be tested. Your character will be refined. You’ll have to stretch yourself in ways you never imagined. But if you stay the course, the reward is greater than the struggle. Today, I look back at those hard moments with gratitude, because they built the foundation I stand on now.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is all about healing and helping people grow emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and financially. I offer a range of services, but at the heart of it all is my passion for guiding others through real transformation.

Through The Inner Peace Project, I offer an 8-week coaching program designed to help clients do deep inner work like shadow work, emotional regulation, mindset elevation, self-awareness, and spiritual alignment. While a lot of my messaging speaks to women, I proudly serve men, women, and children. Healing isn’t limited to one group, and I believe everyone deserves the chance to feel supported, seen, and heard.

In addition, I work as a partner with Rite Tax & Financial Services as a professional tax preparer where I help individuals and families with tax preparation, filing, and building financial confidence. Supporting people financially is just as important as emotional support because when you’re stable in both areas, life flows differently.

What sets my business apart is that I don’t believe in cookie cutter solutions. I take a personalized approach with every client, meeting them where they are and walking with them at their pace. I’m not here to throw information at people. I’m here to help them actually apply it and see results in real life.

What I’m most proud of is that my business is purpose driven. It wasn’t built off of a trend or a business model. It was built through real life experience, a lot of prayer, and a desire to be a light for others. Everything I offer comes from a place of passion, experience, and calling, and I pour that into every service I provide

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Yes, absolutely. Aside from traditional college programs and online courses, platforms like Alison offer free and affordable certifications that can really help you move toward becoming licensed or certified in your field. That’s one route I always recommend for those getting started.

When it comes to networking and finding mentorship, I always say look online and offline. I actually met one of my mentors through TikTok, just from engaging with her content and reaching out. Social media can be a powerful tool when you use it with intention. I also suggest searching Facebook groups for whatever business or field you’re trying to grow in. There are so many support-based communities out there where people freely share resources, tips, and even collaboration opportunities.

Also, don’t overlook local networking events in your community expos, business mixers, workshops, and pop-ups are great places to meet like-minded people and connect face-to-face.

My biggest advice is to never be afraid to ask for help, stay open, and always remain teachable. The right mentor or opportunity often shows up when you’re in the mindset to learn, grow, and receive. Being humble and staying curious has helped me connect with people who truly poured into me and that’s something I’ll always be grateful for.
