Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Gonzalez
Hi Alex, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From a young age, I had a deep passion for music. I played multiple instruments throughout my school years and always knew I wanted to build a career that revolved around it. In the early 90s, I moved to Orlando, where I had the chance to meet Rene Plasencia. Rene introduced me to the world of music festivals in the area and became a great mentor to me. Thanks to the success of those events, I was able to take a big step forward and open my own nightclub on International Drive, Palladium Nightclub. It quickly gained popularity and became one of Orlando’s most iconic nightlife spots, a place people loved to visit. Owning my own businesses and seeing the love and support they received was an incredible experience, but I eventually decided to focus entirely on organizing events. Calle Orange Festival has always held a special place in my heart—it’s been the biggest event of the year. Rene Plasencia created it and turned it into Florida’s largest Latin festival, and I was fortunate to be part of its journey from the very beginning.
In 2024, Rene stepped down and entrusted me with the honor of taking over as the event organizer, ensuring the legacy of this legendary festival continues. With some rebranding and minor changes, I’m proud to say that Max Elite Productions is now the driving force behind Fiesta Calle Orange. My vision for the future is to make Fiesta Calle Orange the ultimate celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, showcasing the vibrant and diverse cultures of all Latin countries. My goal is to make it the ‘St. Patrick’s Day’ celebration for Hispanics—a grand cultural festival everyone looks forward to.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Anyone who owns a business knows that the journey to success is rarely easy. It comes with its share of challenges, and things don’t always go as planned. For me, the biggest challenge is dealing with the unpredictability of the weather, especially since most of my events are held outdoors.
I can spend months planning an event—investing time, money, and effort into promotions, booking artists, securing permits, and coordinating all the details—but when the big day comes, all I can do is hope the weather cooperates. There have been times when, despite all the hard work, it starts raining on the day of the event, and it’s tough because no one wants to walk around in the rain or cold. It’s a constant worry, but it’s something I’ve learned to manage and work around as best as I can.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Max Elite Productions?
