Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Beckwith.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve worked in small business lending as a loan underwriter since 2017, which gave me a strong foundation in financial analysis and what lenders look for behind the scenes. In 2023, an established bookkeeper who’s also a family friend took me under her wing and helped me transition that experience into real-world bookkeeping. By 2024, I felt confident launching my own bookkeeping business, combining my lending background with a passion for helping small businesses stay organized, confident, and financially healthy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been completely smooth, but the challenges were part of the growth. One of the biggest hurdles was stepping outside of the security of a traditional role and into running my own business. Wearing every hat—operations, sales, and client work—was a learning curve. There were also moments of self-doubt early on, but each challenge helped sharpen my skills and confidence.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My bookkeeping business focuses on helping small businesses truly understand their numbers, not just record them. I provide full-service bookkeeping, cleanup work, and ongoing financial support, with an emphasis on accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
What sets me apart is my background in small business lending and underwriting. Having reviewed thousands of financial statements from a lender’s perspective, I understand what banks, investors, and CPAs look for—and I build my clients’ books with that level of scrutiny in mind. My goal isn’t just clean books, but books that tell a clear, defensible financial story.
I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built with clients and the confidence they gain once their finances are organized and understandable. Many come to me feeling overwhelmed or unsure about their numbers, and seeing that shift to confidence and clarity is incredibly rewarding. I want readers to know that my brand is centered on being approachable, detail-oriented, and genuinely invested in helping small businesses operate and grow with confidence.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve been fortunate to have a strong support system along the way. A longtime family friend and established bookkeeper played a huge role early on by mentoring me, sharing real-world insight, and helping me transition from lending into bookkeeping with confidence.
I’m also incredibly grateful to my clients, who trusted me and took a chance on a new business. Their referrals, feedback, and encouragement have been instrumental in shaping both my services and my brand.
Finally, my family has been a constant source of support—offering encouragement, patience, and belief in what I was building. Entrepreneurship can feel isolating at times, and having people in your corner makes all the difference.
