Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Smith.
Hi Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I fell in love with Walt Disney World in 2008, when my mom and I took my boys on their first trip. Since then, I have visited Walt Disney World at least once a year. I am a Disney Vacation Club member and adore all things, Disney! I had wanted to get into helping others to plan their Disney trips for along time, but it wasn’t until July 2017, as I was scrolling Facebook when I saw an add hiring vacation advisors. So, I applied and 3 1/2 years later, I am still a Vacation Advisor with a Magical Vacation Planner. Not only do I get the privilege of helping families go to a Disney Park, but I also get to help them travel worldwide!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Like a lot of agents, I have depended on word of mouth to build my business. I am also a high school special education teacher, so it’s been tough to work all day then come home and find time or energy to work on my business. So, that has been a struggle. I finally felt like I was making progress when COVID hit. I had a big year in 2020 with a lot of people traveling. Having to cancel those trips, hear and watch the disappointment for so many was very hard. I decided to work on Networking in my local communities and my social media presence in 2020, which has been a huge learning experience.
We’ve been impressed with Magical Vacation Planner, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Magical Vacation Planner was founded by Jamie and JJ Eubanks and is housed in Mitchell, Indiana. I am an independent travel agent with Magical Vacation Planner. I specialize in Disney and Universal Vacations, Cruises, River Cruises, and All-Inclusive vacations world-wide. From start to finish, the traveler has my contact information. I provide full service experiences, so if you check-in and something is wrong, call me and I can help. Jamie and JJ Eubanks have created an amazing and professional brand with Magical Vacation Planner. I am most proud of being an agent with MVP and all the training I continue to receive. My first priority is you, the traveler. I will do as much or as little planning for your trip as you want. This is your vacation, and I want it to be perfect. I offer a variety of services between flights, rental cars, hotels, excursions, dining or spa reservations.
