Hidden Gems: Meet Andres Jaramillo of AVA Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres Jaramillo

Andres, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi

Our story started in 2006.
A recent graduate of Valencia College Digital Media Technology program in Orlando, I began working in the audio visual department of a luxury hotel in town. I spent five years working there until our in-house department was outsourced to an outside company. In that time, I learned as much as I could in video production and all the different roles during a live event. Although we worked in the AV department, we were hotel employees first, and this is what played a role later on – reminded that we provided customer service first, AV second.

After my time there, I moved on to a management role and went to work for another company and hotel brand; at this hotel, my customer service was quickly and often recognized by clients leaving positive remarks. My prior hotel experience made the difference, and I realized – the latest and best equipment can look nice, but at the end of the day, your client is going to have something to say about the people behind the scenes and not the gear.

After a few months, I took an opportunity to work independently (freelancing) and started traveling with production companies across the US. I had great relationships with vendors, production companies and technicians; that once I went on my own, I was able to stay busy as a client facing technician, someone you would book to manage projects on-site and be in contact with client/staff. I knew it was my hospitable customer service that was setting me apart, and that is really what AVA Productions is built from.

AVA Productions, has been a growing production since we started in 2013. What started as offering our video production services for live events; has become a full service Event Technology Presentation and Production company.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth.
In the beginning, we traveled a lot and it was not always fun to be away from family, home and friends often and for long periods of time. You take the business because you never know…

Know that a pandemic one day will halt our business for a full year. Our business is live events, conferences and conventions where thousands of people travel in/out for a few days. I don’t think anything could be more challenging, the unknown, the roller-coaster of events that year. We transitioned to working virtual events and started having small meetings until the business eventually got rolling again, but it was definitely a trying time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
AVA Productions is Creative Media.

An Event Technology Presentation and Production company with highly talented Technical and Event Management Professionals. As an event organization, our success is defined by what our client vision is and our events produce. Our highly skilled and experience team enables us to deliver exceptional events that exceed, reflect and maximize client expectations.

Our mission is in striving to do our utmost in exceeding client standards and to provide a high quality production for all those who want a memento of your event.

These days, I am still requested for my services as a Video Engineer; but I spend most of my time working our own events and taking care of our clients production request. Our turnkey services, event management, technical staffing and equipment rentals keeps us busy. We have a great team of technicians in Orlando, and great relationships with vendors that allows us to provide turnkey support for any event.

I’d say what sets us apart is still our customer service approach. Our clients know that their staff, attendees and anyone that comes in contact with our team will be greeted in a cordial way, whether the request is related to our service or not, we strive to go and get the matter taken care of. People often point out our cool, calm and collected demeanor – working with technology, equipment, different venues around the country can be stressful at times when things do not go as plan; our goal is to not project those issues, let us take care of it with a smile!

I’d say we are most proud brand wise to have grown as much as we have and where we really started from. I have a lot of passion for this career field, I’m proud that we have kept great relationships since we started and have grown with other technicians and companies at the same time. I’m happy to know we are able to offer opportunities to local freelancers; and support other vendors when we can pass on business to them. One of our biggest reward is the technicians that choose to work with us, we appreciate their work ethics and technical expertise, the understanding of the level of service we strive for. Another reward is our clients, we acknowledge how important they are, we appreciate the trust and opportunities they give us.

Any big plans?
Our plans for the future is to continue growing the brand. We are working on our marketing to expand and show more about our production company doing great things here in Orlando, FL.

We look forward to working on some big events, we are ready for it. It would be fun to produce an event internationally. We have been to Canada and the Caribbean, but possibly try for South America and even Europe!
