Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Zirkle.
Hi Angela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I always joke that it started with poorly lit photos and a panda sweater. I’ve been collecting vintage clothing and accessories since college. I began selling on Etsy when my collection outgrew my small apartment. My move from Ohio to Florida really pushed me to take my small business to the next level. I began participating in local markets and building relationships with like-minded creatives. I’m constantly overwhelmed with gratitude from the local community. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
What’s the quote small business owners often say, “I left my 9-5 for a 24/7” or something like that? It’s not a 24/7 job, but it feels like it when it’s a one-person show. You have to play all of the parts and it can be overwhelming at times. My biggest struggle has always been work/life balance. It’s hard to step away and not respond to those 2 am messages, but it’s absolutely crucial for your mental health. I’ve gotten better about setting boundaries, but it has definitely not been easy.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Chiffon Cat Vintage is named after a vintage chiffon cat scarf I found while thrifting. I’ve always enjoyed combining modern fashion with vintage style. Each one of my items is specially curated with Mother Nature in mind. My hope is that by selecting unique secondhand pieces, my shop will help reduce unnecessary clothing waste one outfit at a time. I’m overjoyed that I’ve been able to build a brand around this concept.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
