Hi Becky, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was at a point in my life where I needed a change. I knew I wanted to own my own business but not just any business. I needed a way to express my creativity and also inspire women. I was researching different businesses for sale and I came across an ad for an “Apricot Lane Boutique” Franchise. I never thought of owning my own boutique before but it seemed interesting so I contacted the franchisor. I fell in love with what they stood for and a year later I was opening up my own boutique in Lake Nona. This could not of been a better fit for me and my customers. Everyday I get to empower women to look and feel amazing through fashion. I always say “When you look good, you feel good!” I have a hand in every part of my small business. I choose everything that I bring in to my boutique with my customers in mind. When they walk through my doors I get to know them and what makes them feel good. I help them find the perfect pieces for their wardrobe. Whether they are shopping for a special event like a wedding, a baby shower, family pictures or just need a few pieces to update their wardrobe; I get to help them. I love hearing their stories and getting to know them. I love everything about this business. I can’t believe I never thought of doing this before.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always challenges when you own a business. I signed my lease and was the first and only business that was open in my building for almost a year. The building was still under construction and the other units had to be built out. I had no foot traffic and had to find other ways to get my customers through my doors. Slowly, other businesses joined me. We are still waiting for the last space to be built out in our building. We are almost there.
We’ve been impressed with Apricot Lane Boutique Lake Nona, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a women’s clothing boutique specializing in trendy and fashionable apparel and accessories for women of all ages (a place where you can shop with your mom.) We receive new arrivals several times a week. We carry many different brands ranging in sizes from small-large. However, some of the brands we carry will sometimes offer an xs or xl depending on the style. We offer a limited amount of each style we bring in. Everything we carry is carefully chosen with our customer in mind. Customer service is our top priority! Our favorite thing to do is help our customers find the perfect outfit! We also offer one-on-one styling appointments at no charge and Fashion parties with special incentives for the hostess. We love to reward our loyal customers.
