Hidden Gems: Meet Bilera Heard of Eyce Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bilera Heard.

Hi Bilera, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a massage therapist in 2013, working in a chiropractor office in Jacksonville FL. I then moved to Orlando and got into the spa industry and spent the next five years working under the different franchises. After five years, I felt like I had become way too comfortable and stagnant. I wanted to impact the world on a greater level and in order to do that, I thought it was only right to open my own practice.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting my own practice was not easy at all. It took days of research to figure out all the proper licensing and paperwork that needed to be done. Then there was marketing (something I am not very experienced in) that plays a MAJOR role in running a business. The final struggle was figuring out how to finance it all. I started my own practice in 2019 so just as soon as everything seemed to be moving smoothly, COVID swept the world along with all of my hard work, forcing me to shut down for a few months.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Eyce Wellness?
Eyce stands for Even You Can Enjoy Wellness. I offer massages from 30-120 minutes specializing in Swedish and Deep Tissue massage. I also offer other modalities such as Sports, Prenatal and Hot Stone. Often times I hear people say why they don’t or “can’t” invest time into getting a massage so I take that time to inform them that EVEN YOU need massage. It is not just a luxury or a moment to pamper yourself. Although some people use it as such, it is a form of self-care and health. When you think of being healthy, it is not just diet and exercise; it is an entire system of mental, physical and emotional stimulation in which massage itself covers that. Our mission is to educate our guest on there overall health and assist as much as they are willing to accept.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I use to have a passion for dancing and once upon a time even thought about becoming a professional dancer. After falling in love with massage, I put in a tremendous amount of attention and effort into addressing my guest’s needs and my passion for dance faded (at least I thought). I realized to give a massage, there is a rhythm, so I am able to dance every day!
