Hidden Gems: Meet Brandon & Renée Lally of 3.11 Sports Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon & Renée Lally.

Hi Brandon & Renée, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
3.11 Sports Photography has its roots in our family’s love for athletics. Brandon started out over 10 years ago as a product photographer, but when our oldest son began pursuing recruitment by a collegiate program, we realized there was a need for high-quality sports photography that truly captured the spirit and determination of young athletes.

What started with documenting our son’s journey quickly expanded, other parents and teams wanted the same kind of images that told their athlete’s story, not just action shots but moments of grit, pride, and celebration. From there, 3.11 Sports Photography grew into a passion-driven business dedicated to giving athletes, families, and schools professional-level images that honor their hard work and milestones.

Today, we’re proud to say our work goes beyond photography; it’s about preserving memories, celebrating dedication, and helping athletes at every level see themselves with the same energy and pride as the pros.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like with any new venture, especially in a space as competitive and traditional as photography, we quickly realized that people often fear or resist new things. In the beginning, it was a challenge to break through the mindset that sports photography had to look a certain way or that only large, established companies could provide what teams and families needed.

We faced skepticism, moments of doubt, and the uphill task of proving ourselves in an industry where reputation is everything. But instead of letting that discourage us, we leaned into what we knew best; our work ethic, our consistency, and our passion for telling athletes’ stories. Over time, we’ve learned that the images we produce speak louder than anything we could say. Delivering quality work, building trust one project at a time, and staying true to our vision have been the keys to pushing through those struggles.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about 3.11 Sports Media?
One of the things we’re most proud of is how our brand has evolved. From the photography side, we’ve built a reputation for professional-level work that still feels personal and authentic. But 3.11 has grown beyond the lens. From this work, we launched a non-profit that directly supports youth sports, helping to ensure that financial barriers don’t keep kids from participating, competing, and excelling.

What we want readers to know is that 3.11 Sports Photography is about legacy. Every image we create is meant to honor hard work, preserve memories, and give families something they can cherish forever. And through both our photography and our non-profit efforts, we’re committed to uplifting athletes and building stronger communities.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, we see sports photography continuing to evolve in some exciting ways. Technology is moving fast, and with advances in cameras, drones, and even AI, there will be more opportunities to capture action in ways that weren’t possible before. At the same time, social media has changed the way athletes and families want to see themselves represented. There’s a demand for more creative, personalized, and story-driven content rather than just standard posed or action shots.

Another big shift we anticipate is the blending of photography and videography. Highlight reels, behind-the-scenes content, and short-form storytelling are becoming just as important as still images, especially for athletes pursuing recruitment. Parents, teams, and schools are looking for media that doesn’t just document a game but tells the bigger story.

What excites us most is the growing recognition of youth and amateur athletes. We believe the industry will continue to move toward giving them the same spotlight and quality coverage that professionals receive. Our goal at 3.11 is to stay ahead of those trends by combining professional-level creativity with a personal touch.
