Hidden Gems: Meet Chase Gregory of Full Scale Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Gregory.

Hi Chase, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a small town in the Midwest, competing in state and national wakeboard tournaments while helping revive my hometown’s waterski show team in Chippewa Lake, Ohio. As my skills on the water progressed, I started gaining national recognition, which led to sponsorships at a young age. In 2002, one of my sponsors sent me a new kind of board called a wakeskate. I instantly fell in love with it—it mimicked the feel of a skateboard on water, unlike wakeboarding, which is more like snowboarding. Within a season, I transitioned from amateur wakeboarder to professional wakeskater, setting a new goal: move to Florida to compete on the pro tour full-time.

I graduated from high school as a junior and made the move to Orlando in 2004 to be immersedd in the waterski/wakeboard industry year-round. Not long after, I enrolled in massage therapy school with the intention of pursuing a career in sports medicine. During that time, I also worked for several years at a local skate shop, Galactic G in Ivanhoe Village. There, I learned retail sales and got hands-on experience working under the owner, all while building my massage therapy career. Around 2009, I decided to step away from massage therapy and explore other opportunities.

My father had a long career in traveling sales with a major equipment manufacturer, and listening to him on client calls helped shape the people skills that would later become crucial in my own career. My mother started a marketing business after our move to Florida, and I began helping her with it as early as 2005.

After leaving massage therapy, I moved into car sales—a natural transition since I was active in the local autocross scene and regularly attended major races like the Rolex 24 and Sebring 12 Hour. From 2008 to 2011, I wrote a personal automotive blog and sold cars at a local dealership, which eventually led me to a position at David Maus Toyota. David Jr. had also been a wakeskater, so we instantly connected.

In 2011, shortly after moving in with my girlfriend, we found out we were expecting a child. That life change shifted my focus from car sales and blogging to joining my mom’s marketing company, NSG Consulting, Inc. About five years later, I became a senior partner. At the time, many of our industrial manufacturing clients had little awareness of how impactful social media and content marketing were becoming. That’s the world I knew well from being a sponsored athlete (influencer), and I pushed to bring that strategy to the forefront, helping clients stay ahead of the curve.

As NSG grew, I focused on expanding into the Orlando small business market for us, providing affordable, effective digital marketing to companies that typically couldn’t afford big agency rates. Those small businesses made up about 50% of NSG’s client base.

In 2014, my girlfriend and I separated, and we share custody of our son. I met my current wife not long after and we now have a beautiful boy of our own born in 2021. Having two kids really started to hit me that my marketing career needed something more.

In 2022, I launched my own company, Full Scale Marketing, to work directly with small businesses and give our family a new platform to serve different industries. While larger companies benefit from NSG’s experience, small businesses appreciate FSM’s personal touch: competitive pricing, a young, energetic team, that always answers the phone.

Full Scale Marketing has grown from coffee shop meetings and home offices into a brick-and-mortar presence at Credo Conduit, a coworking space near Lake Ivanhoe in downtown Orlando. With a small team and a strong network of like-minded professionals, we continue to help local businesses grow their digital presence—and their impact.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting Full Scale Marketing was fairly smooth because of the experience at NSG. Most clients we moved over to FSM from NSG never saw a change in service, except for the name on the invoices. The struggles we see today are balancing the workloads and the employees. During the year, we have influxes of work and project requests, and it’s enough to hire more employees to help carry the load, but then it dies back down in a couple of months, and we have to reduce hours again or let someone go. I hate that part, but it’s part of the marketing industry that these agencies get spikes and lulls.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Full Scale Marketing works directly with small to medium-sized businesses, giving them a fighting chance on the internet.
Specializing in Google and Bing SEO, website hosting and design, social media campaigns, content marketing, online and offline advertising, printing and promo products, and a personal presence– that we carry our clients wherever we go.

While larger companies benefit from larger agencies’ huge teams and half a century of experience, smaller businesses appreciate FSM’s personal touch: competitive pricing, a young, energetic team, that always answers the phone.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I think that I was lucky to have a dad who was a great salesman, who put his customers first. Lucky to be in the car and hear him talk to clients, lucky to see how he held himself, how he went above and beyond for them, above the call of duty of a salesman, to ensure that their machines were installed and running properly. He would go himself to make sure everything was working to their expectation. I now do that with my clients, giving them a personal experience that they don’t get with hiring any other marketing company.

Bad luck has also played a part to because I was not a happy go lucky drinker around my first born child and his mom led to the end of the relationship. But that, ultimately, led me to meet my wife, who has been with me through thick and thin and has motivated me to be better in all aspects of my life, including getting sober and really focus on my career. She recently started her own company as well and looks to me for advice.
