Hidden Gems: Meet Doris Jackson-Shazier of Shazier Coaching & Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Doris Jackson-Shazier.

Hi Doris , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out thinking my journey would look one way, and life showed me something entirely different. I became a mother at nineteen, then again at twenty two, and for a long stretch I carried the weight of feeling behind. I worked my way up in corporate leadership for two decades, often learning the hard way how to balance high standards with healthy relationships. Those years shaped my approach more than any textbook ever could.

Coaching found me long before I realized I was walking straight into it. People kept coming to me for clarity, strategy, and accountability. Eventually I understood that helping leaders thrive was not just something I was good at, it was something I was called to do. That realization pushed me to get my ICF ACC certification, launch Shazier Coaching and Consulting, and begin building the High Accountability, High Morale framework that sits at the center of my work today.

Every chapter, even the messy ones, pulled me toward this purpose. Now I get to coach leaders, teach in schools, partner with organizations, and write about the lessons I earned along the way. I am still growing, still learning, and still amazed at how grace can turn what felt like detours into defining moments.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were seasons where I felt life stacked obstacles faster than I could climb them. Becoming a young mother while trying to build a career tested my identity and my confidence. I share those lessons in my book, Raising Justice. Later, in corporate leadership, I navigated environments that were not always healthy or supportive. I learned to advocate for myself, set boundaries, and choose courage over silence. Those lessons were costly at the time, but priceless in hindsight.

Entrepreneurship has come with its own set of challenges. I had to learn how to build a brand, trust my expertise, and create systems that matched the size of my vision. Some days I questioned whether people would believe in my framework or understand my mission. Other days I battled burnout while still showing up for my family, my clients, and myself.

What keeps me grounded is faith, community, and an unwavering belief that setbacks become stepping stones. The tough chapters sharpened my voice and strengthened my purpose. They made me a better coach, a more compassionate leader, and a more resilient woman.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Shazier Coaching & Consulting?
Shazier Coaching and Consulting was built from one simple belief, leaders can create environments where people feel both highly accountable and deeply valued. That balance is rare, but when it exists, teams thrive, families grow stronger, and organizations move with clarity instead of confusion.

My work centers on helping leaders, executives, and organizations build that kind of culture. I specialize in leadership development, conflict navigation, and emotional intelligence. I am known for making leadership feel human again. People trust me because I tell the truth with compassion, I teach with real stories, and I pair high expectations with genuine support. My High Accountability, High Morale framework is now the foundation of everything I offer, from corporate trainings to keynotes, coaching programs, and my writing.

What sets me apart is the mix of lived experience and professional expertise. I have led in tough environments, built teams from the ground up, coached thousands of leaders, and walked through the emotional side of leadership that many people avoid talking about. I understand the pressure leaders carry at work and at home, and I teach them how to thrive in both.

Brand wise, I am proud that people describe my work as transformational. Not trendy. Not transactional. Transformational. I want readers to know that whether you are an executive, an educator, a business owner, or a parent leading a household, my programs and coaching are designed to help you communicate clearly, lead confidently, and build environments where people can grow. My brand is here to shift the culture of leadership, one relationship and one organization at a time.

How do you define success?
Success, for me, has shifted over the years. Early on, I chased titles, milestones, and moments that looked good on paper. Now, success feels quieter and much more meaningful.

It looks like alignment. Waking up and doing work that reflects my values, my faith, and my purpose. It looks like raising children who know they are loved, leading clients into clarity that changes their lives, and protecting my own wellbeing so I can pour from a full place.

Success is impact without losing yourself. It is choosing integrity in rooms where it would be easier to perform. It is using your gifts in a way that honors God and allows others to rise with you. Some days it is a big win, other days it is simply staying consistent when life gets heavy.

If I can look back and see growth, see courage, and see evidence that I made things better for the people connected to me, then I know I am living a successful life.
