Hidden Gems: Meet Erica Robinson of No Meat No Cheese

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Robinson.

Erica and her partner John, two vegans, started mimicking traditional meals, got really good at it and started NoMeatNoCheese.com. Erica and John, who have been in the advertising business for many years, wrote and designed a website and started a social media ad campaign. They fine-tuned their recipes and had their first pop-up, which quickly led to bigger events. Both vegans and non-vegans loved their food.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since vegan food was generally more expensive, the first challenge was to keep the food authentic tasting and the price low …and they were very successful at it. All of their meals were under $10. Because the food business can be time-consuming, another challenge was balancing an ad business, a food business and a personal relationship at the same time. Everything fell into place and was running very smooth until March of 2020 when Covid 19 shut down all events.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about No Meat No Cheese?
We are a plant-based craft food service and make everything from scratch. We are well known for our three flavors of vegan crumbles (Italian Sausage With Fennel & Parsley, Pepperoni and Mexican Flavored), our meatballs made with TVP, parsley and onion, our vegan cutlets lightly breaded with garlic and parsley, and of course Erica’s famous vegan wings, which always sell out. NoMeatNoCheese.com also makes specialty catering trays like vegan seafood scampi pasta, lasagna with Italian sausage crumbles, and much more.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Erica’s childhood memories always involved being around water. As a child growing up in South Florida so she has many fond memories of being at the beach, the keys, lakes, and pools. She even considers herself a Mermaid at times, and one look at her might make you believe it. On the other end of the spectrum, John grew up in downtown Brooklyn, NY. So his childhood memories are of pavement and concrete, not water, unless it was coming out of a fire hydrant. Fun as a child always included lots of friends and playing sports in the park and on the street. Baseball in the summer and hockey in the winter, again on pavement and concrete. No grass fields or ice rinks to be found.
