Hidden Gems: Meet Evelyn Ruiz Olivier of Wave Capital

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Ruiz Olivier.

Hi Evelyn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born in Valencia-Venezuela, graduated Public accountant at University of Carabobo, I have always liked the adequate management of money, investing it and making it grow, also creating solid economic bases for the future, since I was 13 years old I started selling products by catalog to my friends from school, I had the opportunity to develop my knowledge and learn from very large companies in my field of studies back in my home country. such as “polar companies” and “venoco chemical industries”, this prior to creating my accounting firm in Valencia, Venezuela. Due to the political persecution that put my life and my family at risk, we decided to emigrate as soon as possible in September 2015, without any planning, without knowing what would happen with my firm and much less what would come later in the USA. I started little by little to investigate and prepare to adapt my knowledge to a new country with a different law system, a totally new system for me to offer the best of my knowledge and so at the end of 2018 Wave Capital was born. Still after six years, I continue in constant learning, I love being at the forefront, I learn from mistakes and falls to boost myself, I learn from them and continue with more strength, that has been the key to my growth, additionally, adapting to changes and get the most out of situations, no matter how tough they are.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My biggest challenge has been breaking with the paradigms and misconceptions learned of my ancestors.

My biggest obstacle was to maintain my thinking and my socio-political position for many years of my life even though it brought me problems in the labor field.

I have not known any path to success that is easy or smooth.

By this, I do not mean that it is the worst thing in the world, but all the rewards come after a lot of effort and sacrifice.

First fight: my mother died and I was 18 years old. Even though she was old enough to continue alone, this generated an emotional imbalance that for a long time made me lose focus and be very distracted, she is and will continue to be my great Pillar of life.

Emigrate: more than a struggle, it was a great challenge, the process of adapting myself and then adapting my knowledge to a totally different system in a place that I knew nothing about.

As you know, we’re big fans of Wave Capital. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Wave Capital was born at the end of 2018 due to the need to offer financial aid to the Hispanic community, since I arrived to this country, I noticed the great opportunities that it offers and additionally that it is multicultural, it opens the doors and embraces immigrants so is worth loving it and caring for it. I had also noticed that many people due to lack of professional help had been working very hard for many years without obtaining a stable advance in their economy and their assets and that is why I heard so often the saying of “in this country, we work in order to pay the bills”. I had the need to help and educate each of these people to be encouraged to grow in a harmonious way so that they could achieve their financial freedom, obtaining knowledge and with a large group of committed professionals Wave Capital is not only Evelyn Ruiz, we are a great team that works every day and we are constantly learning to help not only the Hispanic community but everyone who wishes to improve their financial situation and strengthen their financial foundations for the future, we offer comprehensive financial services for small-medium-sized companies and accompany those who wish to start in the US and are outside and within the country throughout the process, I definitely have many things to be grateful of, it has been a great experience and opportunity.

How do you think about luck?
Luck does not exist for me.

There is the opportunity to make your dreams come true(and we all have that great opportunity equally). I have had the opportunity to develop my profession in a different country starting from scratch and I only had two options;

The first: stay with the excuse that I would have to emigrate without enough time for planning my next move and for reasons beyond my control, that it was something that I did not want, that everything I achieved was there, that I could only perform my profession there, that I was In a country with another language, I had to take care of my children, and I can go on…. (if we talk about excuses, they will always abound).

The second: adapt all my knowledge to this country and take advantage of the opportunity to be in a prosperous country with a stable economy where I had the option of reaching this my new goal with a lot of perseverance, discipline and a lot of effort, I decided to take the second option and here I have thrived!

IT IS NOT A MATTER OF LUCK BUT OF TAKING THE OPPORTUNITY AND SO REACHING SUCCESS. YOU DEVELOP YOUR OWN LUCK.
