Hi Ilanna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi, I’m Ilana Reisner — and here’s how The Magic Paws came to life.
I’ve always had two big loves in my life: dental health and animals. In 2005, I became a licensed Dental Hygienist and spent years helping people take care of their smiles. But in the back of my mind (and deep in my heart), I always knew I wanted to do something that also involved my love for pets.
That calling became impossible to ignore, and eventually, I decided to take a leap — I got certified to clean pets’ teeth. What I discovered was heartbreaking: so many pet parents were avoiding dental cleanings because of the high costs, the fear of anesthesia, or the risks it posed to older or medically sensitive pets. That’s when I knew I had to do something different.
In 2021, I launched The Magic Paws, a mobile pet teeth cleaning service that doesn’t use sedation. I wanted to provide something safer, more affordable, and way more comforting for pets and their owners. So, I developed a method based on what I call 5 Senses Therapy — we use calming music, lavender, acupressure points, and soft blue/purple light to create a peaceful environment where pets feel safe and relaxed.
Since then, we’ve performed over 7,000 cleanings across Central Florida — including Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, and surrounding areas. We’ve helped thousands of pets avoid gum disease, pain, and costly surgeries, all while keeping their tails wagging.
Today, The Magic Paws is more than just a service — it’s a movement. We’ve launched a dental membership club, created a referral rewards program, partnered with local groomers, and even started community campaigns where we donate a portion of our cleanings to pet rescues.
I started this journey with one mission: to make pet dental care more accessible, more compassionate, and more aligned with the natural wellness our animals deserve. I’m proud of how far we’ve come — and even more excited for what’s ahead.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building The Magic Paws has been a journey filled with purpose, but also plenty of challenges. Our goal has always been clear: to make preventative pet teeth cleaning accessible to all dogs and cats — regardless of age, size, or financial situation. But turning that vision into reality hasn’t been easy.
In the beginning, many people didn’t even know that teeth cleaning without sedation was possible. Educating pet parents, gaining their trust, and showing the true value of prevention over cure took time — and a lot of heart. We also faced resistance from those who were used to traditional veterinary methods or who questioned a new, holistic approach.
Logistically, growing a mobile service across several major Florida regions has had its own hurdles — from van maintenance to team training, and ensuring consistency in care no matter where we go.
But the biggest challenge has been breaking the idea that pet dental care is a luxury. It’s not — it’s a necessity. Gum disease, pain, and tooth loss are preventable. Our job is to make that prevention easy, affordable, and safe — and we fight for that every single day.
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but every struggle has reinforced why we do what we do. When I see a senior dog relax during their cleaning, or a pet parent breathe a sigh of relief knowing their pet is healthy and happy — I know it’s all been worth it.

What matters most to me is the well-being of the animals — and making sure every pet has access to safe, preventive care.
Animals can’t speak up for themselves, and often their discomfort goes unnoticed until it becomes serious. What drives me every day is knowing that we can make a real difference before it gets to that point. I believe that prevention is the most powerful form of care — it’s compassionate, affordable, and life-changing.
That’s why we focus on making pet dental health approachable, gentle, and available to all — not just to those who can afford costly vet visits or are comfortable with sedation. For me, it’s about giving peace of mind to pet parents, and giving pets the comfort and health they deserve — in the most loving way possible.
At the end of the day, what matters most is impact. If I can help one more dog live without pain, or one more cat keep their teeth into old age, then I know I’m doing what I was meant to do.
