Hidden Gems: Meet Jack Garcia of Alpha Roofing Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Garcia.

Hi Jack, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to introduce yourself.
Ever since I was young (6 years old), I remember going to help my dad with his carpenter’s jobs. I was never fond of school but loved to work with my hands. I dropped out in 10th grade. I was not doing well in school and was not around the best association. I remember my dad saying, “if I take you out of school, you will work very hard. Is that what you want?” I said absolutely! I must pave my way. Throughout the years, I’ve held many, many jobs. All in different fields. Not only did this broaden my experience, but every single job has helped me with the next, besides working with my dad in his Kitchen cabinet company. I worked for Sears, Macy’s, a fence company, a heavy equipment company, a trucking company, and back to the carpentry shop where I was selling, building, and installing my projects. In 2006 when my 1st wife got pregnant with my 1st child, I decided to work with a company where I could request a transfer. At the time, I was living in Miami, FL, and did not want to raise my child there.

In 2004, I started as a disaster relief volunteer, helping neighbors after the storms that year. With that experience, I was given the opportunity in 2006 to work as a Project Manager with Home Depot. There I started my roofing career. My plan was also to move to Central Florida. Once a job opening became available in Lakeland, I spoke to my boss, requesting a transfer. I have only been there for 6 months. Thankfully, my boss then granted my transfer, and I began moving to Lakeland. Once I got to Lakeland, my boss in Tampa, upon learning that I speak Spanish, gave me the territory in Hillsborough County to help with the Spanish-speaking neighbors. I worked in HD for another year till the crash of 2008 happened, and I was let go. It happened to be I got allowed to go the same month I purchased a house in Lakeland. I kept doing kitchen jobs in Miami and other smaller jobs. I was allowing working as a meter reader for the City of Lakeland.

However, every month I was short $200 because the pay needed to be more. I started to start my own business, but those were tough times. I saw myself dumpster diving for pallets in other to sell them to make ends meet. Soon I was hired by a small company that sold fasteners and tools. This paid $200 more, and I could at least make ends meet. During that time, I started to buy and sell cars again to make extra money. About a year passed, and I went to work for a pressure gauge and valve company. I will never forget that place and the boss I had there. After a year of being there, an old boss of mine at Home Depot called, he kept my phone number and asked if I would consider returning. Money was good. I would get a computer/phone and a truck. I always had difficulty working in an office, and it was nice to be back on the road. After about 4 years, I received an opportunity to work with a large roofing company in central Florida as a project manager. Here I worked for 8 years. During this time, my 2nd wife helped me so much. Not only with all the side carpentry jobs and others I took on but supporting and pushing me to do better. I started a small lawn business, and after about 8 months, I sold it and partnered up with the gentleman who bought it.

In February 2020, I decided to start working on getting my Roofing Contractor license. In February 2022, I passed the final exam I got my license. I have begun a roofing company named Alpha Roofing Co. My partner Rito A Ramirez has taken over the company, and we have partnered to grow it. We are spending nearly a million dollars on commercial lawn care a year. We are projecting to install 5 million dollars of revenue next year. Ever since I was a kid, I have had an entrepreneurial spirit.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
NO, not. Many struggles. Setbacks are unavoidable; sometimes, one set forward and 2 or 3 sets back. It is all about consistency and not giving up. I have learned not to focus on the problem but on the solution. When you want something as crazy as it might sound, put it as a goal. Somewhere you can see it every day. Ask, has someone else done it? And if so, research ways to make it a reality for you. Never be scared or feel you are not good enough. Be resilient. If you get a NO, don’t focus on the NO focus on you being one step closer to a yes. Learn from your mistakes, and if you feel you need to be better to take a challenge, do it anyways you will and can figure it out in the process. The partner you choose is essential. They will see the potential in you when you might not see it. Let them motivate you as you grow together.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Alpha Roofing Co.?
We are a Central Florida-based Roofing Company. Combined, we have more than 20 years of experience. We aim to make roofing simple. You deserve the best when it comes to hiring a roofing contractor. I always tell my clients: even if you don’t use us, I am here to educate you on making a wise decision when selecting a roofing contractor (we are the best choice), materials, and artistry.

Let’s end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
Quality, communication, and cleanliness; the roofing business takes work. And in construction, things do go sideways. But at my core, all clients deserve quality artistry and materials. They deserve the best communication from start to finish. And every home needs to look better than we found, so cleanliness is super important.
