Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Morrison.
Hi Jenn, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My story began almost 3 1/2 years ago when my first daughter was born, and I was on my 12-week maternity leave. I loved my job but wasn’t wanting to go back to my corporate office; I wanted to be at home with my daughter, I wanted a better work/life balance. So, during my leave time, I started researching what I could do from home, a work-from-home position. In my search, I came across virtual assistants and began to dive deep into what it was all about. It didn’t take me long to decide, “this is what I’m going to do to stay at home with my daughter.” My husband and I discussed all the pros and cons of leaving my corporate job to build my own VA business. After several weeks, we decided that making a move would be most beneficial to us. I was able to go back to my corporate job for 6 months before putting in my notice and building a business. I launched my business within 3 months and had my first client within 2 months. Since then, I have been growing and scaling my business so that one day my husband can retire from his business (self-employed as well), and we can do more traveling and watch our two girls grow up. Today my business has a team of 4, including myself, and a number of clients that we support daily. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for me, my business, and my family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building any business comes with some obstacles and/or challenges, and that was no different for mine. I struggled to find clients that would see my value at first, but I did eventually overcome that. The other challenge that I faced was all the competition out there in the virtual assistant world. I really had to work on finding my niche and who I wanted to help scale their businesses.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
A Professional Virtual Assistant (VA) can provide you with more time, make your life easier, and help grow your business by managing tasks that distract you from your daily goals. We want to help you take back your schedule and focus on what matters most to your business. Every business leader has different needs, so that is why we can customize a package option to suit you and your business requirements.
Why Hire A VA
The expense to hire and support a full-time employee can be costly to your business.
The base salary of a full-time Executive Assistant ranges from $35k to $70k per year.
Benefits packages, including tax and insurance, can range from 25-40% of their base salary.
Overhead cost, to include office space, supplies, and equipment, can add to those costs.
Your business will see an increase in productivity and flexibility.
VAs work differently than full-time employees. Distractions are cut out, and the focus is on getting the tasks at hand
completed.
VAs work around your schedule, so you are not dependent on an employee that works your standard 9-5 hours.
You can get time back in your schedule to focus your agenda on the growth and succession of your business.
VAs can manage the busy day-to-day tasks for your business.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
We love the Ocoee and Winter Garden area! We have made going to the Winter Garden Farmer’s Market a Saturday tradition followed by a run or walk on the trail. We love the options we have for grabbing a bite to eat or a beverage. I have always lived in this area since I moved here over 11 years ago, and so love everything about the area.
Dislike but not really 😉 … the area is growing way too fast. Doesn’t seem to be the secret/quiet little downtown Winter Garden anymore.
