Hidden Gems: Meet Jenn Morrison of Elite Assistant & Beyond

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Morrison.

Hi Jenn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My career has taken a few different turns, but looking back, every experience has played a role in getting me where I am today. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Administration and spent years working in event planning and as an Executive Assistant supporting C-suite executives. Those roles taught me how to anticipate needs, manage competing priorities, solve problems, and bring structure to a lot of moving pieces. At the time, I didn’t realize those skills would eventually become the foundation of my own business.

Elite Assistant & Beyond really began with motherhood. After my first daughter was born, I knew I wanted to continue building a career, but I also wanted the flexibility to be home with her and actually be present for the moments I knew I wouldn’t get back. I didn’t want to feel like I had to choose between being ambitious and watching my children grow up. So, in 2020, I decided to create another option for myself.

What started as a way to build more flexibility into my life quickly became something I genuinely loved. I began working with business owners who were incredibly talented at what they did but were overwhelmed by everything happening behind the scenes. I realized how much I enjoyed stepping into that space, taking the pieces that felt chaotic or disconnected, and turning them into something more organized, strategic, and manageable. Over time, the business naturally grew beyond traditional administrative support into operations, strategy, project management, social media, marketing, and becoming a true partner to the businesses I support.

As the business grew, so did my passion for entrepreneurship. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping another business owner take an idea or vision and actually make it happen. I love being the person behind the scenes who can see the bigger picture, connect the dots, anticipate what’s coming next, and help create the structure that allows someone else to grow.

Today, Elite Assistant & Beyond looks very different from the business I started in 2020, but the reason behind it is still very much the same. I’ve been able to build a career I truly love while having the flexibility to be present for my daughters as they grow up. I can be there for the everyday moments, the school activities, the appointments, the random afternoons, and all of the little things in between that matter so much to me.

What started as a way to create more freedom for my family became a passion and a business I’m incredibly proud of. And I think that has shaped how I define success today. For me, success isn’t just about how much the business grows. It’s about building meaningful work, helping other business owners create something they’re proud of, and having the freedom to be present for the life I was building the business for in the first place.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like a lot of entrepreneurs, some of my biggest challenges have actually come alongside growth. In the beginning, I was used to doing everything myself. I knew every client, every project, every deadline, and every detail. That level of involvement helped me build the business, but as it grew, I realized it wasn’t sustainable.

One of my biggest learning curves has been creating systems and processes that allow the business to grow without everything relying on me. I’m naturally someone who likes to be involved and make sure things are done well, so learning to let go of some of that control has been challenging. I’ve had to learn that building a business isn’t just about being good at the work. It’s also about creating the structure for other people to step in, trusting your team, and recognizing that you don’t have to personally touch every piece for it to be successful.

Boundaries have been another big part of that journey. When you own a business, there is always something else you *could* be doing. Another email to answer, another project to work on, another idea to pursue. And because I genuinely love what I do, it can be even harder to turn it off. I’ve had to become much more intentional about where I spend my time, what I say yes to, and what growth actually looks like for me.

That has probably been one of the biggest shifts in my definition of success. I started this business because I wanted flexibility and the ability to be present with my family, so I’ve had to remind myself that growth at the expense of that flexibility isn’t really the kind of growth I’m looking for. I’m still learning, adjusting, and figuring things out as the business evolves, but I think that’s part of entrepreneurship. Each new level brings a new set of challenges, and each one has pushed me to become a better business owner and leader.

As you know, we’re big fans of Elite Assistant & Beyond. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Elite Assistant & Beyond is a strategic operations and marketing partner for business owners and organizations who have reached the point where they simply can’t, and shouldn’t, be doing everything themselves.

What we do is a little difficult to fit into one box, and I actually think that’s one of our greatest strengths. We work across both the operational and marketing sides of a business, helping with everything from systems, workflows, project management, and day-to-day operations to social media strategy, content, email marketing, launches, events, and overall brand growth. Rather than coming in to complete a list of tasks, we look at the bigger picture: What is working? What is creating a bottleneck? What is taking too much of the owner’s time? And what needs to happen next to keep the business moving forward?

I think what sets us apart is the level of partnership we bring to our client relationships. I’ve never wanted Elite Assistant & Beyond to be a business where a client simply hands us a task and we check a box. I want to understand their business, their goals, their audience, and where they’re trying to go. We become invested in the businesses we work with, which allows us to anticipate needs, bring ideas to the table, identify opportunities, and take ownership of the work instead of waiting to be told what to do next.

We’re also known for bringing calm to the chaos. Many of our clients come to us because their business has grown, but the systems and support behind it haven’t necessarily grown at the same pace. There may be great ideas, exciting opportunities, and a lot happening, but no one has the time or capacity to pull all of those pieces together. That’s where we thrive. We can step into the middle of a lot of moving parts, create structure, and turn ideas into actionable plans.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Elite Assistant & Beyond has evolved without losing the heart behind why I started it. The services have expanded, our expertise has grown, and the way we support clients has become much more strategic, but relationships are still at the center of everything we do. I never want our clients to feel like another account or number on a roster. I want them to feel like they have someone in their corner who genuinely cares about their success.

Ultimately, we create space. Sometimes that means creating space for a business owner to focus on growth instead of getting buried in the day-to-day. Sometimes it means giving them back time with their family, the ability to take a vacation without constantly checking their phone, or simply the mental space to think strategically again. I started this business because I wanted more flexibility and presence in my own life, and I love that the work we do can help give other business owners some of that freedom, too.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think our industry is going to change significantly over the next five to ten years, especially as AI, automation, and new technology continue to become part of everyday business. We’re already seeing it happen. Tasks that used to take hours can now be completed much more efficiently, and I think that will continue to change what business owners expect from the people and partners they bring onto their teams.

But I don’t think technology is going to replace the need for support. I think it’s going to raise the bar for what that support needs to look like.

The value is shifting away from simply completing tasks and toward being able to think strategically, make connections, solve problems, manage moving pieces, and understand the bigger picture of a business. AI can help us work faster and more efficiently, but there is still a very human element to understanding a client, recognizing what they need, knowing when something doesn’t feel aligned with their brand, and building genuine relationships with the people behind the business.

I also think we’ll continue to see a shift toward more fractional and specialized support. Business owners don’t always need, or have the resources for, a full in-house team of executives, operations professionals, marketers, and strategists. Instead, they can build a team of trusted partners who bring expertise in different areas and grow alongside the business. That creates tremendous opportunities for small businesses to access a level of strategy and support that once may have only been available to larger organizations.

For our industry specifically, I think adaptability is going to be one of the most important skills. The tools will continue to change, platforms will change, and the way we work will change. The businesses and professionals who succeed will be the ones who are willing to learn and evolve without losing the human connection behind what they do.

That’s something I’m excited about. I don’t see technology as something to compete against. I see it as another tool that can help us spend less time on repetitive work and more time doing what I believe creates the most value: thinking, strategizing, building relationships, and helping our clients move their businesses forward.
