Hidden Gems: Meet Juliane Saturnino de Assis of Miss Bittersweet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliane Saturnino de Assis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always had a passion for food. My family is Italian and everything that happens to us involves (good) food. My grandmother was the best cook I’ve ever known and despite that inspiration, I’ve always seen it as a hobby rather than a business. After the pandemic, my life, like many people’s, changed and so I decided to dedicate myself more, due to the need to occupy my mind. After a few courses and a lot of positive feedback, I decided to start with Miss Bittersweet. Today we have a beautiful store in Clermont, and I’m proud to say that our customers are loving it! We have a unique style; all products are homemade. Our secret is just the use of the best ingredients and a passion for food!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest challenge was and continues to be the pandemic. The world has changed and we are still trying to adapt to this new reality.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We have a dessert shop in Clermont. Our products are homemade, without preservatives, and we are trying to bring back the pleasure of eating a good dessert without the guilt. Our greatest pride is the banana cake with oatmeal, chocolate chips, and nuts! gluten-free, no dyes or essences, just real bananas. In addition to being very healthy, it is really delicious! In addition, we will have cakes, Brigadeiro’s, chocolate mousse, cookies, fondue, Tarts and croissants.

We work only with Callebaut chocolates, in all recipes, and selected ingredients.

And not to mention we have the best macaron in Clermont, 21 delicious flavors!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We’re looking to grow and expand, maybe a second store, who knows?
