Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelynn Cotton.
Hi Katelynn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Owner & Founder Katelynn Cotton is a Florida native and grew up in Ponte Vedra Beach. She now resides in St Augustine with her husband and their two littles, Liliana and Titan. At the ripe age of 19, Katelynn founded a babysitting company Sunny Sitters, where parents could count on reliable childcare with her screened babysitters. Fast forward to motherhood, she has definitely felt the negative effects of being a sleep deprived mom, especially during those first few weeks postpartum.
Each time after she delivered her babies, Katelynn would tell her husband, “the nurses were so helpful, I wish I could take them home with us!”
Driven by her own journey into motherhood, Katelynn founded Happy Baby Night Nurses formally known as Night Nurses Northeast FL with a clear mission- to offer reliable overnight care to families during one of life’s most transformative periods. Families can feel at ease knowing their experienced night nurse will take great care of their newborn while parents can get a good night’s rest.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a business owner always has its ups and downs, it’s not supposed to always be easy! I had to submit payroll and take consult calls the day I was discharged from the hospital once I had my third baby 😆 even if you put others in place to help out, you still have your finger on everything within the business. I wouldn’t call anything I’ve experienced struggles, just more so finding that balance between work and family.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a night nurse service. Families hire our Registered Nurses to take care of their newborn all night while the parents can sleep. We only hire registered nurses who have experience in labor and delivery, mother/baby postpartum, NICU or PEDS. The nurses stay awake all night & tend to all of babies needs, working in 8-12 hour shifts. Our goal is to support mothers postpartum so they can rest, recover & heal from birth.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
We were not open during Covid. We launched in 2024.
