Hidden Gems: Meet Katrina Spagnoletti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Spagnoletti.

Hi Katrina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Katrina Spagnoletti and I am a 57-year-old mother, grandmother, wife of Tony Spagnoletti, Speaker, Pageant Coach, Mrs. Florida American 2020 and currently I hold the title of, Elite Mrs. Queen of the World. I am also a survivor of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of my uncle and stepfather. During COVID, I knew that being shut in would trigger the memories of my childhood abuse, so I decided to face my fears and write my first book, “What My Mother Never Knew.” I knew that there were young men and women who would be shut in with their abusers and most of them could not use their voice to tell their story of what they were going through.

I wanted to tell my story of how I found my voice and healed from my abuse. It gave me the strength to continue healing as a 56-year-old and beyond. Today I speak to thousands of survivors of abuse through events, media and social media on a daily basis. Winning the title of Mrs. Florida has given me the platform to help so many to get back their power and to use their voice to inspire countless others to start the healing process. Since I’ve been crowned Elite Mrs. Queen of the World, it will help me to continue to stand in my power as an international queen and will capture the attention of so many more survivors who don’t understand the process of healing and living a more powerful and healthy life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, healing from childhood trauma never is easy, but it is possible. I lived a life of failed marriages, chaos and depression all while having my children witness both. Depression was and still is a struggle because of the memories of what happened to me. Trust it is sometimes very difficult, but I’ve learned to handle it in a healthier way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the author of ‘What My Mother Never Knew’ and I speak to audiences around the world on how to heal from childhood trauma and how to stand in your power. Being a pageant coach fits right in with healing through trauma. It allows me to build the confidence in my clients to win, not only on stage, but in life.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That I struggle with depression on a daily basis. People see who I am on the outside and get very surprised that depression is a huge part of my life, but it also helps me deliver my message of strength when I discuss how I can pull myself out of the depression and live a healthy life.
