Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Owen.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have 30+ years in the healthcare industry as a Director/Practice Administrator. I was inspired by my new puppy to start a mobile dog grooming business in 2013, so I left the healthcare industry to become an entrepreneur as a business owner and became a certified groomer. In 2016, I decided to hire a full-time groomer and get my real estate license to sell real estate. I was so excited that I passed the state exam on the first try! I have been working with a broker and selling commercial and residential real estate. The real estate industry is my world. I absolutely love helping buyers and sellers making one of the most important decisions in their lives. I love to see happy clients on closing day move on to their next chapter in life. I am able to make new friends along the way.
In 2018, my husband and I decided to purchase land to have farm animals to enjoy with the grandkids. I love raising and riding horses, so that is my quiet and therapy time to unwind from the stresses in life. I started a horse boarding facility, so now I have boarders that I added to my family. It is our peaceful time when we all get to ride our horses together. In 2020, a young couple asked me to babysit their 13-day old little boy. I was more than happy to do so! The couple were having some challenges in taking care of him and thought they need a little break. I brought him home on January 15, 2020, to stay a couple of nights. The couple were struggling with mental issues, living in home with multiple tenants and needing government assistance to survive for themselves. After taking care of this little boy for about a week, my husband and I both agreed we felt a calling to keep him in hopes that we could later adopt him. We met with the biological parents to see they were comfortable in allowing us to adopt him and they were so pleased so he became our son in September 2020. We are blended family and now our son has blended into our hearts. Our lives have forever changed! I am an entrepreneur of three businesses, I have two adult daughters, ages 33 and 30, with two grandsons ages four years old and three weeks old, a granddaughter age 13 and now a 17-month-old son to finish raising! I believe in hardwork, helping others achieve their dreams and never giving up on life even when things get tough! Be persistent and never allow anyone to tell you can’t do it! We love our faith, our family and our farm. God has blessed us beyond measure.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, life is never a smooth road. I think life always has its peaks and valleys it is to make us stronger and it builds character! I have a type A personality, so I am guilty of being a workaholic. My challenge in life is to balance the three businesses and have time for my husband, kids and grandkids.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work for La Rosa Realty, LLC in Celebration and St. Cloud, Florida. I am thrilled to be associated with La Rosa Realty. They stand for Family, Passion and Growth and they mean it! It is rare to find someone that you can work with to care about one another as they do at La Rosa Realty. I am proud to be a Realtor at their brokerage. I walk my buyers and sellers on the path to making one of the largest investment in their lives. It is important to relate to people by listening to their dream of selling their home or if a buyer is ready to purchase their dream home to raise their family. It is important to me that I give back to our first responders that dedicate their lives in helping people, so I offer cash back at the closing table to healthcare workers, police officers, military, veterans and fire fighters.
I am currently a founding board member of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Foundation. We raise money for police officers or their families needing help during a difficult time. La Rosa Realty, LLC has a lot of my same philosophy about giving back to our community, so together we give financially and our time.
How do you define success?
Success is finding the balance in life to have a career and family to write your story. You have to love what you do and who you are. Don’t let others define you or write your story.
