Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Pearcy.
Hi Lisa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It began when I got hired as a representative for an HVAC distributor. This position positioned me to move forward for a few reasons:
One, I was the only female salesperson they had hired and it gave me experience being in a male-dominated industry at the time. Two, It gave me the opportunity to learn about energy and consumption of energy that I would later use in my industry. I took in every ounce of knowledge I could and eventually brought that knowledge into a start-up energy efficiency and testing company in Central Florida. I quickly developed in sustainability consulting and acquired some large name home builders and developers which kicked off my experience with energy business management, but it was my impact and desire for community that really helped me launch my business. My mission is to leave this world better than I found it and renewable energy gave me an outlet to do that. I have been hell bent ever since. I love what I do and am a very proud owner of 15 lightyears.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it was not smooth at first and I had many challenges. I had no business collateral and it was hard to obtain a loan in the beginning. It is hard for any business in the beginning. You have to prove so many things. I’ve lost money on jobs, but I’ve never not completed one. This has always been more important to me and my reputation in the industry.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We have a passion for high-performance buildings and community. Through energy efficiency, solar power and storage we provide electrical solutions for developers, businesses, and homeowners that embrace the future of energy as well as take care of our planet for following generations. I am most proud of our people. We believe in innovation, we believe in solutions, and we believe in our customers. I think the integrity and grit of our team to see a job is well done no matter the challenge presented makes us stand apart from others. We are female-led and have a very impressive customer list including NASA, City of Orlando, City of Winter Park, and Osceola County Public Schools.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
15 lightyears is derived from an astronomy definition of the Solar Neighborhood. It comes from the fact that any star that is 15 lightyears from the sun is considered the Solar Neighborhood.
