Marlene, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, My name is Marlene. I am a married mom of 2 girls originally from Los Angeles CA. We moved to Orlando FL right before the start of COVID. Experiencing life in a new state was very isolating, factoring COVID into the mix was even harder. Shortly after COVID began I got pregnant with my 2nd child and was placed on bead rest. This put me in a whirlwind of emotions to say the least. After my 2nd child was born I found myself dealing with postpartum anxiety.
At the time, I had limited friends and no extended family in FL that could help me with the kids or give me a break.
When I did try to make some time for myself, I tried several times to book appointments in the evenings for nails, hair, and facials however no one would allow me to bring my kids in, they did not take appointments after 7pm, and I was not available on the weekends.
Going through this experience really shed light on the fact that most businesses in the beauty industry are not accepting to children and not flexible in scheduling.
I found myself in a situation thinking ” what are the options for MOMS who take care of their children all day or at least until there spouses come home from work?”
I then made a conscious decision to enroll myself at FL Dermal Institute in Longwood FL and to go to school to obtain a license in the beauty industry.
Not knowing how I was going to work in the industry while watching kids all day I decided to take a leap of faith and trust god in the process. After graduating in 2023, I decided to rent my first studio in Maitland FL and chose the name: Healing Mama Studio
Motto:
WHERE BEAUTY, WELLNESS, & MOMMY AND ME COME TOGETHER.
Now moms can come in and get there healing facials, postpartum facials, or maternity belly facials and bring in their kids to play in our playroom. We have flexible hours to match mom schedules and also offer childcare for small kids upon request & availability.
As time has gone on I have curated the business to offer more services:
Specializing in facials in a box, where you can now order your facial to your doorstep. Understanding that not all moms may have the time to visit our studio we did not want MOMS to be excluded or ignore their TLC.
We also offer the following services in our studio:
Herbal yoni steams, herbal teas, & holistic skincare.
Custom mommy & me jewelry
DIY products to freshly create such as sugar scrubs, candles, ETC…
Custom Weekend Spa parties for kids, teens, and adults.
What is NEXT:
I am currently back in school to get a get a license in nails and will be offering nail services to moms in Spring 2025.
Same concept where moms can bring in their kids to get gel or dip manicures and kids can play in our playroom.

Thank you to my husband and children who have been on this journey with me. They have been the ones in the background to share their, evenings, summer vacations, and weekends with me in the studio. This studio has definitely been a collective family effort and has brought us closer together. Cheers to many more evenings and weekends in the studio full of to go dinners, janitorial duties, unexpected handy man services, and loving MEMORIES.
