Marquisia “Keysie” , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in a small city in Florida called Winter Garden—not the side you see in brochures or real estate ads, but the side often overlooked. Despite the challenges that came with growing up in a lower-income community, I always had this unshakable belief that I was meant for something greater. I just didn’t know what it was yet.
At 16, I became a mother to my daughter. That moment changed everything. I knew I couldn’t stay in the same environment if I wanted a different future—not just for myself, but for her. She gave me a new reason to dream bigger and take action. I realized I had to become the example she could look up to.
At 19, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. After a conversation with a friend already in college, I took a leap of faith and moved from Winter Garden to Tallahassee to begin my college journey. It was scary—I didn’t know how I’d maintain everything or even if I was making the right choice. No one in my immediate family had done anything like this before. But I knew deep down that growth would require discomfort, so I took the risk.
In August 2013, I made the move. Within just two months, I had enrolled in college, landed a job, and moved into student housing. It wasn’t easy, but through consistency, hard work, and faith, my life started to shift.
In 2017, I became the first in my immediate family to graduate from college, earning my Associate of Arts degree from Tallahassee Community College. That milestone reminded me that I was capable of breaking generational barriers—and building new ones.
On January 1, 2022, I took another bold step and launched my all-natural, handmade skincare and self-care business. Although entrepreneurship was uncharted territory for me and my family, I knew this was a path worth exploring. In May 2022, I became a Licensed Full Specialist Esthetician after graduating from the Aveda Institute—further positioning myself to serve and heal through beauty and wellness.
In 2023, I transitioned into full-time entrepreneurship, expanding my offerings to include mobile and elderly self-care services. Today, my business proudly provides high-quality skincare products and personalized services that empower others to feel confident and cared for—inside and out.
Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of every risk I’ve taken. Each one has helped me create a life that once felt out of reach. So, if you’re reading this and wondering whether you should take that leap—my advice is simple:
Do it.
Do it happy. Do it afraid. Do it unsure. But do it.
Because the life you’re dreaming of is waiting on the other side of your courage.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Taking this leap of faith into entrepreneurship wasn’t easy, and it definitely wasn’t an exact science. There was no perfect plan laid out, no guarantees—just a vision, a lot of prayer, and a strong belief in myself. It took (and still takes) an incredible amount of hard work, dedication, consistency, and commitment. There were moments I felt unsure, tired, overwhelmed, and even scared—but I kept going. I had to remind myself of my why constantly. Every early morning, every late night, every sacrifice has been for something bigger than me.
And what makes it all worth it? My clients and customers. The people who trust me with their self-care, who support my products, and who show up time and time again. Seeing their results, their glowing skin, their restored confidence, and their happiness—that’s the real reward. Knowing that my work is making someone else feel better, feel beautiful, or feel seen—it fills me in ways I can’t even explain. That’s what keeps me going. That’s what makes the leap of faith not just worth it—but one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

To me, consistency, professionalism, and genuine connection are the cornerstones of a successful business—and a fulfilling career. Consistency builds trust; when clients and customers know they can rely on the same level of care, quality, and service every time, it creates loyalty and confidence. Professionalism sets the tone for how my brand is perceived and how I operate—it’s about showing respect, maintaining high standards, and ensuring every client feels valued, seen, and respected. But perhaps most important is connection—building real relationships with the people I serve. I believe that true beauty and healing go beyond the surface, and being able to connect with each person who walks through my door or supports my brand allows me to offer a deeper, more impactful experience.
