Today we’d like to introduce you to Max Schwartz.
Hi Max, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in South Florida, I was always a very active kid. Whether it was outside playing sports or fishing on the boat, I always found myself doing some kind of activity. I began riding and racing dirt bikes when I was five years old. My dad brought home a few 50cc dirt bikes and the rest is history. The majority of my racing took place from the ages of 10-15. After that, I quickly began shifting towards the business side of the motocross industry. I started a company with a childhood friend of mine, which allowed me to buy and sell gently used or new motocross gear and sell it to consumers at a fraction of the normal hefty retail prices.
After a few years of running this business with a buddy of mine, I decided to branch out and start my own company after a falling out with my previous business partner. That is when The Dirt Bike Depot was born. Originally created to just get rid of the remaining inventory I had remaining, it quickly grew and turned into what it has become today. With almost 20,000 social media followers and another 10,000 active customers to our website, we have become the leader in the used motocross gear sector of the industry. We have title sponsored multiple professional Supercross and Motocross riders, put together 0ur own Supercross team, and have spread internationally to countries like France, Spain, Israel, and every state in the U.S. Our journey started in 2018 but is nowhere near finished and we can not wait to see what the future holds at The Dirt Bike Depot!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The word “struggle” would be an understatement. As a 21-year-old college student and a full-time business owner, the path to getting to where we now have not been easy. Many sleepless nights and 18 hour days have gone into building what The Dirt Bike Depot is now. Man, has it been a challenge, but I wake up every single day and can not wait to see what new things I will experience and learn.
From the people I meet to the businesses I work with, DBD has been the greatest challenge I have ever worked on. To start a business from scratch was something that I never thought was possible for myself. I never thought that I could be the one to grow my own social media pages, meet enough riders and industry personnel, or just have the drive to push through the tough and long days. After a few short weeks, I realized this is what my success would be. This was how I wanted to be known and how I wanted to live my daily life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Dirt Bike Depot?
At 18 years old, I started a small e-commerce business called The Dirt Bike Depot, which is a website that sells new and used motocross gear at below retail prices, saving the average consumer lots of money on the latest and best motocross gear on the market. DBD was created “For Riders, By Riders”, and strives to give the average motocross rider an upper hand on the expensive gear companies out there. I define success based on my company and the many aspects that go into working and owning The Dirt Bike Depot as a 21-year-old college student. We specialize in many different aspects of the motocross gear sector but have dominated the “athlete only” side of the industry. Receiving many pieces of gear that are only available to specific sponsored athletes. The thing that separates us from others is the pride we hold in our customer service and the quality of every customer experience. We strive in every single way to make our consumers the happiest possible when going through our website.
As far as our brand goes, I am most proud of the progress and reputation that we have gained. Not just in Florida or the Orlando area, but people all over the country have come to use DBD as their “go-to” for second-hand Moto gear. It truly is an awesome feeling that I get to help a struggling parent in the sport that I’ve grown up to know, and it truly does not get better than that for me. Almost three years into The Dirt Bike Depot, the long days and endless nights have not ended, but they have gotten sweeter. Seeing the progress personally and from a business, standpoint have been extremely rewarding. On any given Sunday, being recognized at the motocross track is not an odd occurrence anymore. Running out of The Dirt Bike Depot merchandise for younger riders and customers is common, and it is awesome. My work ethic, drive, and goals only grow and become stronger. To me, that is my success. That is my love, and waking up on a daily basis to work hard and be happy is inspiring on a personal level.
