Hidden Gems: Meet Michelle Mcguinness of WellChild Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Mcguinness

Hi Michelle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story and the journey to founding WellChild Inc. is deeply personal. As a speech-language pathologist with over 10 years of experience in child development, I’ve always been passionate about supporting families. My own experiences fueled my desire to create a platform like WellChild.

After going through IVF and welcoming my baby, who spent time in the NICU, I faced the overwhelming challenge of finding reliable resources and support during those crucial early stages of parenthood. Adding to this, moving to a new city without a strong social network made the experience even more isolating. I realized just how much parents need a community—a village—to help them navigate the complex journey of raising children.

That’s how WellChild Inc. was born. I wanted to create a hub where parents like me, who are navigating these challenges, could easily access trustworthy prenatal, postnatal, and child-related services, as well as activities that enrich their children’s lives. Combining my professional expertise with my personal struggles, I’ve made it my mission to build a platform that not only provides services but also fosters a supportive, connected community for parents and families at every stage of their journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being a new mom and building WellChild Inc. has been both fulfilling and incredibly challenging. In the early months of motherhood, sleep was scarce, and the exhaustion that came with caring for a newborn while trying to start a business was overwhelming. The idea of “mom-tired” became a reality—balancing nighttime feedings and diaper changes often felt like a marathon.

Additionally, I’ve had to make tough decisions about which models to implement for my business while wearing too many hats—CEO, customer service, marketing, and everything in between. Every step of the way, I’ve been learning on the go, and at times, it’s felt like there aren’t enough hours in the day to manage both my business and my role as a mom.

Despite all of these challenges, the drive to be an amazing role model for my daughter who can show her to never give up on her dreams and my drive to create a platform that helps parents like me has kept me going. Every day, presents new struggles, but also new opportunities to build something that truly matters.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about WellChild Inc. ?

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that most people who know me or my work might not know is that I’m a proud Latina. I am Dominican American, and bilingual in both Spanish and English. In addition to my professional journey as a speech therapist and entrepreneur, I’ve had the privilege of fostering children, which has deeply shaped my passion for creating supportive spaces for families. As the founder of WellChild, I’m dedicated to expanding our reach beyond just one location—we have exciting plans to scale across various cities and states, ensuring that families everywhere can access the best resources and enrichment programs for both parents and children, especially families in communities with low access to services. My ultimate goal is to build a nationwide network that truly empowers parents and caregivers while fostering strong communities.
