Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Drawdy.
Hi Natalia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My business partner, Eva Freeland, and I have always shared a passion for learning and the hair industry. We worked together at another local salon for 10 years before the opportunity came along to open our own cozy spot in town. Our vision was to create a retreat-like space for our clients. We understand our clients are the caregivers of our community and this space is our way to combine our passion for the industry with the importance of self-care.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, we have been so blessed to know so many great people that have been so helpful along the way. There was not one obstacle that we were not able to overcome and luckily we opened right on time!
As you know, we’re big fans of Nateva Hair Retreat. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Our salon is comprised of 3 stylists that have been licensed over 15 years, 1 junior stylist licensed for over two years and one assistant that is getting ready to begin cosmetology school. We love our collaborative learning and teaching environment. I was taught in hair school that you should hang up your shears if you think you are done learning in this industry…there is always something to learn!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up in Ohio, Eva had a makeup bag since she was 4 and has loved all things beauty since she can remember. Her great Aunt Marianne was a hairstylist and a big influence. Eva remembers watching Marianne and her best friend color and perm each other’s hair.
I was born and raised in central Floridia. I graduated from UCF before pursuing my dreams of becoming a hairdresser. I remember only being interested in Barbies if I could to do their hair. When I was in cosmetology school I looked up to hairstylists as absolute rockstars!
