Hidden Gems: Meet Pedro Turushina of Elokuent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pedro Turushina. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Elokuent Inc. started as the dream of two young entrepreneurs who came from Colombia at a young age. The company was founded in September of 2013 by our now Art Director, Pedro Turushina, as a one-man show production, assisting individuals and small businesses with branding ideas and solutions, by which later in time formed into a viable business model. Since then, here is what Elokuent has accomplished year after year:

In 2015, Elokuent Inc. demonstrated having a positive growth allowing Turushina to dedicate his time on a full-time basis. The company’s goal was to duplicate revenue from the previous year. Pedro’s full focus in Elokuent Inc. took the company to a greater success, achieving the sales goal within the first five months. As the company grew in revenue, Elokuent also grew the team as our demand was higher. By May of 2015, Manuel Turushina, brother and co-founder, joined the team on a full-time basis as Operations Manager. At the same time, Elokuent Inc. hired a full-time senior graphic designer, part-time junior graphic designer and had on their roster two freelance graphic designers as sub-contractors for special projects. Aside from the in-house core team, Elokuent Inc. also started building relationships with local vendors who have played a big role in our growth. These relationships have led the company maintain excellent quality while still allowing the process to be efficient.

In 2017, we took a big step as we moved out of our home office to our first commercial office is South Downtown Orlando. Along this journey, we have been able to support local organizations and stay connected with our community. Since our inception day, part of our main focus has been to seek ways to give back by supporting organizations such as the Coalition of Homeless of Central Florida, Lighthouse Central Florida, Conductive Education of Central Florida (CECO), as well as supported local events such as PR’s For Pulse (fundraiser event dedicated to the Pulse Victims for three years in a row), Power for Puerto Rico (fundraising for hurricane Maria victims). Most recently, we launched a program for small businesses who were impacted by the pandemic called Elokares.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our road continues to be under construction and we’re very grateful for all the bumps along the way that have taught us to be better professionals, better entrepreneurs and better humans. When we first started, we were working out of a garage and we truly learned the meaning of family. At first, we had family members help in any way that they could while we got organized. After a couple of years, we were able to move into our first office space and that was a big win for us. The most recent struggle was the impact the pandemic had on not just our business but so many businesses around the world. For the first few months, we were not sure what was going to happen and as business owners, we had to think of all the possibilities. One thing we knew for sure was that we were going to work our hardest to not furlough anyone. We’re a small team to begin with and we knew we wanted to take care of our employers who’d been with us through thick and thin. That is when we launched a special program for small businesses in the area to provide free graphic design services. We focused on designing flyers, social media posts and so on that will help businesses tell their customers what was going on, new hours and safety standards. This not only kept our team busy and with high morale, it also served to connect with clients we hadn’t spoken to in months.

Thanks to this effort and our amazing team, we actually were able to move to a bigger office space this past summer and grow our business. Every bump and struggle in our road has only lead to bigger and better things, and that tends to happen as long as you don’t give up and learn from the struggles.
