Placido, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Venezuela, where I earned my Civil Engineering degree from Santa María University in 2014. After facing the difficult social and political situation in my country, I made the decision to move to the United States in pursuit of a better future. Like many immigrants, I began by working various jobs until I had the opportunity to enter my professional field as a draftsman.
My first professional role in the U.S. was with Romac Design Center, where I worked as a draftsman on residential projects. From there, I advanced to Cuhaci & Peterson, collaborating on large-scale retail projects for clients such as Wawa and Walmart. I later expanded my experience with Clymer Farner Barley, where I contributed as a technician on The Villages, the largest master-planned development in the county. At the same time, I partnered with Engineering Services Group, an established firm with more than 20 years of experience in residential design.
In 2022, I founded my own company, Toolbox Drafting Services, to provide drafting and design support to design professionals, contractors, and homeowners across Florida. In just three years, we have successfully delivered over 600 residential and commercial projects and grown to a dedicated team of four employees, continuing to serve our clients with professionalism and commitment.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I’ve faced many challenges along the way—from learning a new language and adapting to a new culture, to understanding different building codes, jurisdictions, and even learning new tools and construction methods.
One of the biggest struggles in the beginning was realizing that I didn’t need to limit myself by temporary obstacles. With hard work and persistence, I could overcome those barriers. Over time, I learned that as a professional, dedication and perseverance open doors, and this country truly provides opportunities for those willing to work for them.

At Toolbox Drafting Services, we provide high-quality drafting and design support for contractors, homeowners, and design professionals across Florida. We specialize in creating residential and commercial construction plans that are not only code-compliant, but also clear, accurate, and builder-friendly. Our work ranges from custom homes and remodels to commercial projects.
What truly sets us apart is our personalized approach. Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
For me, the most important quality has been perseverance — the mindset that no matter the circumstances, you cannot stop, you have to keep moving forward. Life and business will always bring challenges, but I’ve learned that progress comes from showing up every day and taking the next step, even when the path isn’t clear.
