Today we’d like to introduce you to Rayea Powell.
Hi Rayea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Azrayea Powell, the founder of Rayea’s Touch. There are two main things that have heavily influenced my mission for my brand. I grew up in the early 2000’s so magazines and the latest beauty trends heavily influenced my life. I always found myself intrigued by all the little DIYs in magazines such as Glamour, Teen Vogue, Cosmo Girl, and Seventeen.
While growing up, I have also struggled with extremely sensitive skin dealing with eczema, hives, allergic reactions, and hyperpigmentation. The struggle with my skin also inspired me to go the more natural route, but growing up, the more natural products were expensive and we couldn’t always afford them. Fast forward to today, I formulated and handcrafted my own self-care line. As I got older, I have seen and felt the importance of self-care and I wanted to educate others and teach them that self-care is not selfish. Alongside that, I also wanted to create a safe space for people with sensitive skin and also make it affordable. Today, my mission is to offer a safe and secure alternative to self-care products that make you feel like royalty. I aspire to educate, give confidence and help people worldwide.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a successful road, but it has not always been smooth. Being a business owner has many advantages but also many disadvantages. It is not easy being a one-woman band, but it’s definitely worth it at the end of the day. Dealing with mental illness as a business owner makes it more difficult when depression or imposter syndrome comes about and it is extremely important to take care of that instead of ignoring it.
We’ve been impressed with Rayea’s Touch, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am Rayea Powell, the founder of Rayea’s Touch. I specialize in sensitive skin-safe self-care products that make you feel like royalty. My values as a brand is exceptional customer service, customization of products due to allergies, and everything being formulated and handcrafted by myself. All ingredients used are ethically sourced, cruelty-free and vegan. I am also slowly transitioning to more eco-friendly packaging as well.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I have recently quit my job as a pediatric nurse and became a full-time entrepreneur!
