Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Dailidonis.
Rebekah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Terra Play Center was born from both my professional experience and a shared vision among our ownership team. I’m a pediatric neurology nurse practitioner, and through my work I care for children with a wide range of neurologic, developmental, and physical differences. Every day, I saw how essential play is to development. Play supports motor skills, communication, confidence, and social connection, yet many families shared that there were very few spaces where their children truly felt included and safe to play.
At the same time, my co-owners brought complementary strengths that helped turn this vision into reality. Together, we combined backgrounds in business operations, hospitality, customer experience, and community engagement. This balance allowed us to design not only an inclusive play environment for children of all abilities, but also a welcoming space for caregivers, with a thoughtfully run café and strong operational systems behind the scenes.
Terra Play Center grew from the belief that inclusive play should be intentional, beautifully designed, and accessible. We focused on open-ended, purposeful play while creating a space that feels calm, supportive, and inviting for families. Getting to where we are today has required wearing many hats: Child development, operations, brand development, partnerships, and day-to-day management and building systems that support safety, quality, and sustainability.
While much of the work happens behind the scenes, it’s all driven by the same goal shared by our ownership team: creating a place where children feel capable, included, and joyful, and where families feel genuinely supported. Terra Play Center represents the intersection of clinical insight, thoughtful design, and strong business leadership all responding to a real and growing need in our community. At Terra We Play With Purpose!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road and I think that’s true of any mission-driven business built from the ground up. One of the biggest challenges was translating a very heart-led vision into a sustainable, well-run operation. Creating an inclusive play space requires a higher level of intentional design, safety planning, training, and oversight than a traditional play facility, and much of that work is invisible to guests but essential to doing this responsibly.
Another major challenge was learning to balance multiple roles at once. In the early stages especially, I was simultaneously leading clinical-informed decisions, overseeing operations, managing compliance and risk, building partnerships, and solving daily logistical issues. There’s a steep learning curve when you’re building systems from scratch. Everything from staffing and inventory management to vendor relationships and pricing structures and mistakes are part of that process.
We also faced the reality that education is required. Many families don’t immediately understand why certain policies exist or why inclusive design matters, so we’ve had to be very intentional about communication, consistency, and holding boundaries while still remaining warm and welcoming.
Despite the challenges, each obstacle has strengthened the business. It forced us to refine our systems, clarify our values, and become better leaders. Those struggles ultimately shaped Terra Play Center into a more thoughtful, resilient organization one that’s better equipped to grow sustainably while staying true to its mission.
We’ve been impressed with Terra Play Center, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Terra Play Center is an inclusive indoor play space designed intentionally for children of all abilities, from infancy through early childhood. At its core, we provide a safe, thoughtfully designed environment that encourages open-ended, purposeful play. Play that supports physical development, communication, sensory exploration, social interaction, and confidence.
What sets us apart is that Terra Play Center was designed through both a clinical and operational lens. Our space isn’t built around overstimulation or excess toys; instead, every element is intentional. We don’t believe in filling a room with toys for the sake of noise or distraction. Our goal is to bring childhood back to its roots, encouraging imagination, movement, problem-solving, laughter, and connection. We want families to rediscover how to truly play together, slow down, and build meaningful community in a space that feels supportive and welcoming.
One of our most unique offerings is Terra Path, our guided play and education resource. Terra Path is an extension of our mission beyond the physical play space. It helps families understand how to use our equipment, why certain types of play matter for development, and how to engage with their children in meaningful, developmentally supportive ways. Terra Path empowers caregivers to feel confident playing alongside their children, turning everyday play into connection, learning, and shared joy.
We offer a variety of ways for families to enjoy the space, including open play sessions in one- or two-hour increments, flexible memberships, and fully private birthday parties. Our private party offerings allow families to celebrate in an inclusive, beautifully designed environment without sharing the space, while still maintaining the calm and intentional feel we’re known for.
We also designed Terra Play Center with caregivers in mind. Our café and lounge seating provide a comfortable place for parents and guardians to relax, connect, and enjoy quality beverages while still remaining engaged and close to their children. Families are encouraged to stay, not rush, to talk, laugh, and build relationships with one another.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is that Terra Play Center has stayed true to its mission while building something that is both beautiful and functional. Much of what makes Terra special happens behind the scenes: staff training, safety and sanitation standards, risk assessment, accessibility considerations, and continuous improvement. That invisible work is what allows families to walk in and simply enjoy the experience.
What I want readers to know is that Terra Play Center isn’t just a place to play, it’s a place to reconnect. We exist to help children feel capable and included, to help families learn how to play and laugh together again, and to create a sense of community support that extends beyond our walls. Everything we offer from Terra Path to open play, birthday parties, memberships, and our café is guided by intention, empathy, and a long-term vision for families and children.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as both a mindset and a choice. It can be objective or subjective, but at its core, success is about how you choose to view your life. I choose to lead with positivity and to look for the good in people, in families, and in everyday moments.
Success doesn’t always look like milestones or metrics. Sometimes it’s coming home and hugging my babies at the end of the day, or sitting down with my husband for a glass of wine after the kids are asleep, our quiet version of date night. It’s my mommy-daughter days, the shared laughter, and the small moments that ground us.
And it’s also the smiles we see every day at Terra Play Center children feeling confident, families feeling connected, and caregivers feeling supported. Those moments remind me that success isn’t just about what you build, but about the joy, connection, and meaning you create along the way. That, to me, is success.
