Hidden Gems: Meet Ron Catterson of Clear View Optix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Catterson.

Hi Ron, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started working in The Villages for an optometrist and saw the need for a high-end optical. My wife, Donna saw an article in AARP magazine about people over 50 starting their own business. We contacted SCORE for an advisor and from there, we created a business plan, worked up a budget and talked to several banks for an SBA loan. Clear View Optix opened their doors on August 15, 2017 and is a small boutique optical with very dramatic, distinctive eyewear. We build relationships with our customers. We have a part-time optometrist that performs comprehensive eye exams. CVO is all about providing the best customer experience, we are second to none.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Hell NO!! Opening your own business is not for that faint of heart. The obstacles are many and the hurdles are tall. But our faith and attention to detail has allowed us to survive for four years. We have grown each year.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Clear View Optix, LLC?
My wife and I own this small boutique on the north end of The Villages. I operate the business six days a week. We have procured frame lines from around the world. We use state of the art lenses to give our customers optimum vision.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in Ohio and moved to Florida as a teenager. I have lived in and around Florida since then.
