Hidden Gems: Meet Rosalynn Ambler of uhaveus.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosalynn Ambler.

Rosalynn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I never thought my future would involve social media being my full-time job. I started TikTok right when the lockdown happened for COVID. I didn’t even have the app on my phone because I thought it was for teens. I decided to download it with the intention of posting videos about my dog, but I quickly became obsesses with the app. In the summer of 2020, I had my first viral video, and my life quickly between the change. Disney has always had a special place in my heart, I didn’t go to the parks a lot as a kid because we couldn’t afford it. The first time I went to Disney World, I was in my early 20’s. I started sharing my love for Disney without feeling embarrassed or scare of judgement. And I wanted to inspire people to do the same and do what makes them happy. Being a “Disney Adult” has this bad rep for absolutely no reason. Loving Disney is no different than loving sports. I also have a massive mug collection of over 500 mugs, so I started throwing cups in the air and catching them as new characters (I know it sounds crazy lol) But before I was Rozysmagicalworld I was the Quennofcups but I changed my username to reach a bigger demographic because I do a variety content. So, the combination of my love for Disney, fashion, mugs, making people laugh, and spreading awareness about mental health led me to the path I am on today. It has had its ups and downs but overall, I am extremely grateful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So many people glorify the role of content creator/influencer without knowing what it actually entails. I try to compare it to singers or actors. Fame is appealing to so many people, but the reality is only a few will experience it. I think the same is for content creators. Just because you have a million followers doesn’t mean you’re going to be living in a mansion and spending time on a yacht. And the connection between content creation and mental health is a very strong one. You’re constantly under pressure to keep up with trends to help your analytics but also make sure you’re giving your audience what you want. You become obsessed with opening you phone and checking your views and when a video doesn’t do as well as you were hoping it can make you feel defeated, especially if it’s something you put a lot of work and effort into. It becomes a very toxic relationship between you and an app.

Also being a black female creator has had many obstacles. I have experienced brands paying me less than white creators when I either have the same following or more than them. And with my main platform TikTok, the algorithm is set to attract and push out videos with society’s ideal standard of beauty; skinny. blonde, rich, etc. So, it’s really easy to feel defeated when you see other creators that are getting better opportunities and pay from brands just because of the color of their skin.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Spreading awareness about mental health has always been extremely important to me as someone who has bipolar disorder and social anxiety. I think it so critical that we normalize talking about mental health. The more we talk about it openly, the less amount of people who have to struggle in silence. So last November I opened up and online retail store uhaveus.com. The message of the shop is “Mental Health F*cking Matters”. We sell apparel and accessories that help can spread awareness that we need to normalize talking about something so many people struggle with or don’t understand. With my social media platforms, I created a community where people can feel safe and comfortable being themselves without judgement. We started calling it the Rozkateer Family and we wanted to make sure people understand they are not alone, they have us. We will get through this together. And that’s what made me open up uhaveus.com. To help those fighting a mental illness and even those who are supporting a loved one with a mental illness that they are not alone.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
A lot of people don’t know I’m a huge country music fan! Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Reba, Shania Twain are some of favorite artists.
