Hi, Sheena. We are so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Orange Blossom Market Co. was founded in 2022 to create a strong small business community in Central Florida by providing easily accessible education, professionally organized events, networking, and support. Working from home and working for myself created emotions of loneliness that my loved ones could not fill. I embarked on a journey to find a community where I felt welcomed and brought value to my small business lifestyle. Over time, I gained the confidence to build a community that supports my business beliefs and work ethic.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Hi, it’s me. I’m the problem; it’s me. I have certainly been my largest obstacle to overcome. Creating balance, having a vision, staying focused, and having imposter syndrome are just a few struggles. Recently, I heard a quote about turning a mess into a message. This saying has helped to extend grace to me. So, I plan to continue learning through the obstacles, not treat them as roadblocks. I’ve also been incredibly blessed to have a fantastic support system that has helped me through so much!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Through personal connections and networking, I introduce small business vendors to an audience they would not reach otherwise. Equally, | support municipalities, non-profits, and event venues as a trustworthy source of high-quality vendors while helping these entities build their reputation as a provider of a quality event experience. It would take multiple parks and recreation department members or leisure services team weeks to coordinate OBMco. can do at no cost to help better focus their efforts. What sets us apart is that we hold our vendors to a high standard. Each event is juried, and all potential vendors must go through our application process to curate a market that serves the community, the business, and the market’s best interests.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Community events and farmers markets are a staple, but the trend of highly themed and curated markets will likely increase. And we’re excited for that! The Modiste Market, a Bridgerton & Regency Era inspired event OBMco. held in the summer was an escape from reality and well received. We will continue the annual market in Mount Dora and expand to other cities! And that’s just one of many exciting ideas!
