Today we’d like to introduce you to Temeka Callins.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story? Wow! As I look back, I can say I have one heck of a story, lol. Honestly in the beginning I really never truly understood my purpose or why I am here. I read a lot of books, prayed a lot, watched a lot of YouTube videos and it just wasn’t clicking to again what is my passion. Don’t get me wrong none of which I stated above is wrong, however, it just wasn’t working for me. Maybe I wasn’t doing it right. Lol, It’s so funny that all along the universe directed me on the route to my purpose without me even knowing it. Many people along my path to finding have told me, “man Temeka you’re designed to inspire people and help people, You have the heart and soul for it”. It honestly just went in one ear and out of the other. I had to experience the obstacles and hurdles and it brought me to where I am now. It took work, it took sweat and it definitely took a lot of tears. Now I’m here! Don’t get me wrong I still break out in sweat and I still have my cries here and there. But I’m stronger, my mind is wiser. Now I own a successful business and a couple of side gigs lol. I’m a certified and License Mindset Coach and I have my own notary business.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No way definitely not a smooth road. If anyone says they had a smooth road to become who they are now tell them to give me the blueprint lol. Some of the struggles I faced was:
1. Caring about what other people thought of me. That right there is the biggest one that led me to hesitate and slow my process of success.
2. Doubting myself when things got tough. Many days and nights I told myself I can’t do this. This is not for me.
3. Procrastination/organization- I always was a last minute person and being a business person that can be a huge downfall. Also, planning out my days and weeks was not in my routine. I just got up and did it.
4. Consistency- this one was a major struggle for me. I’m doing better and will continue to get better in this one.
Remember no one is perfect!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Meka mindset- It’s a coaching brand I created when I received my life coach certification. The whole part of this business is to help individuals learn how to reprogram their mind to become the person they always dream of becoming. But first, it starts with shifting the way you think.
What sets me apart from others is my story. It wasn’t a cookie cutter story. I’ve been through a whole lot and the only reason why I’ve been through what I’ve been through is to teach others how to avoid and how to overcome. I’m not here for the money I’m here to transform your life.
If you’re reading this and looking for guidance, accountability, structures and someone who listens.. Then this is the service I offer.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was coming home to home cook Jamaican food. My mom can cook, porridge, chicken foot soup, curry chicken and dumplings, oxtails, cocoa bread and many more. Mmm, that makes me hungry now.
Another childhood memory is going to visit my dad and stepmom and going to all the theme parks restaurants and just being spoiled, lol.
