Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyshandria Pettis.
Hi Tyshandria, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
At an early age, I’ve always loved to take charge and plan things. I was always infatuated with organization, office supplies, assisting, and helping others thrive. I knew that one day, I wanted to be able to help people from an administrative standpoint. My family and friends would always call on me to help them with documenting a process, walking them through something on social media, or some kind of administrative matter. My mom always says, “Call Shandria, she’ll know how to do it.”
It was 2021 when I knew I wanted to start a business but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. As a mother, I knew that I needed to be able to provide and show my daughter, that we are breaking barriers. So, I wrote a list of things that I was a good at and walked away from it. I knew that my professional purpose would appear when I least expected it. In January of 2022, a friend reached out to me and told me that it was time, I needed to start my business.
I developed Nine Advantage, LLC in February of 2022, and I hit the ground running. I started by posting content on my social media pages, as well as knowing the power in “Word of Mouth”. While working a full-time job as a Healthcare Data Analyst, I am proud that I was able to bring my vision to fruition.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, the road hasn’t been easy. This is coming from both a business and professional aspect. I had to learn that most of your support will come from a stranger. For example, I had a woman come up to me in a store, and inform me that she’s seen my reels on Instagram and that she loves the information I provide for those wanting to enter the VA industry. But I’ve also had people tell me that my goals are unrealistic. The main struggle for me was blocking out hearsay. You have to stay focused, stay the course, and prioritize the vision.
I also had to learn that when sowing seeds within your professional purpose, you cannot accept every single client. Your services are not for everyone.
We’ve been impressed with Nine Advantage, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nine Advantage is a Virtual Assistant entity for creatives, realtors, and entrepreneurs. We specialize in alleviating the worries of tedious tasks so that you can focus on doing what you love! Nine Advantage offers Calendar and Email Management, Social Media Support, Airbnb App Management, Personal Assistant services, and more.
I want readers to know that my goal is to help businesses develop trust with their clients while standing out and being more memorable. I am most proud brand-wise that I get up, and show up every single day, working from the privacy of my own home and giving my clients the luxury of no overhead costs, pleases me as well. I am passionate and thankful for the professional purpose and relationships that I have developed.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has been on my side in both my professional and personal life! My business has provided me the ability to connect with some incredible people. I’ve also started earning some certifications to help take my business and brand to the next level!
