Hidden Gems: Meet Yolanda Melendez of Beauté of the Gods

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Melendez.

Hi Yolanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey began with a deep-rooted desire to serve. Becoming an Aesthetician wasn’t just a career move; it was a calling to create a space where people could feel cared for, seen, and uplifted. I’ve always been someone who finds purpose in helping others and skincare felt like a beautiful way to do that — not just on the surface, but in a way that leaves a lasting imprint.

Before I stepped into this field, I spent years working in the corporate world, feeling like something was missing. There was this tug inside me, a quiet but persistent voice saying, “You’re meant for more.” I didn’t know exactly what that “more” was at the time, but I knew I wanted to be known for something meaningful, you know, to do work that mattered.

What truly shifted everything for me was watching my mother. She’s the embodiment of selflessness — always giving, always nurturing, but rarely taking time for herself. I saw firsthand how many women, like her, pour from empty cups. I chose aesthetics because I wanted to change that. I want to create a space where women could finally prioritize themselves — unapologetically.

This journey has made me reflect often: If my life were a book, would it be worth reading? That question fuels me to keep showing up, even on the hard days.

My heart especially goes out to those battling illness. As a survivor myself, I know what it’s like to crave moments of normalcy and self-care amidst chaos. That’s why I dedicate part of my practice to oncology esthetics — to serve cancer patients with love, compassion, and healing touch.

I’m here today because of the unwavering support of my clients, loved ones, and community. I truly believe healthy skin is for everyone and I’m here to guide, educate, and walk beside anyone on that journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The aesthetics industry can be tough. It’s competitive, sometimes cliquey, and not everyone who smiles is rooting for you. In the beginning, I struggled to find my footing and questioned whether I really belonged, but the challenges taught me resiliency and in the process, I found real friendships that have become my support system.

Owning a business is a whole different beast. People say the market is saturated, but I don’t believe in scarcity and steer away from that limiting mindset. I always say: there’s a reason there are so many types of bread in the bread aisle. Everyone has a preference and there’s room for all of us.

What no one prepares you for is the behind-the-scenes of owning a business. The bookkeeping, branding, marketing and staying afloat during slow seasons. It’s not just about being good at your craft; it’s about learning how to run a business. And that part? I’m still learning, every single day.

I don’t let the hurdles stop me. I remind myself that my only competition is who I was yesterday. My mindset is this: I’m not here to outdo others. I’m here to outgrow my fears and keep showing up for my purpose.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I created Beauté (Beauty) of the Gods with one mission: to make every person I touch feel radiant, empowered and deeply cared for. The name reflects how I want my clients to feel; worthy, divine and celebrated in their skin just like a goddess.

My specialties include acne treatments, oncology esthetics, knowledge in treating multicultural skin, anti-aging therapies and correcting pigmentation. I pride myself on my ability to tailor each experience to the individual; no two faces, skin types, or stories that are the same.

What sets me apart isn’t just my technique, it’s the energy I bring to the room. I create a judgment-free space where people can be vulnerable, ask questions and feel safe. I work with all budgets, because self-care shouldn’t be reserved for a select few — it should be accessible, affirming, and transformative. Skincare is healthcare.

I’m a proud brand partner of Circadia, but I also believe in transparency. There’s a lot of marketing noise out there — buzzwords like “medical grade skincare” are often used to sell an illusion. Truth is, real results come from education and consistency, not flashy packaging.

As estheticians, we’re trained, licensed, and committed to ongoing education so we can be the best resource possible. We know skin. And we’re here to help people heal inside and out.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’m not someone who relies on luck. I believe everything happens for a reason — even the hard stuff. Challenges come with lessons and I’ve learned to ask: What is this trying to teach me?

That said, I like to think I have a team of very tired guardian angels who’ve been working overtime to keep me safe, focused, and moving forward.
