Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Grainger.
Hi Christopher, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started by being a part of a high school hip-hop group. I needed equipment for shows. A year later, a friend of ours asked if I could DJ his wedding. I never did a wedding, though I loved music. I told him not to expect much, but if he trusted me, I would do my best. It was a complete disaster! Though, he was grateful enough to give us me a Ponderosa gift card. What a treat! A few years later, I worked special events at a banquet hall. We worked many weddings. Most of these weddings hired the cheesiest DJs. That’s when I realized there was still a market for quality DJs that would focus on the client and give them their dream event. In 2008 we created Graingertainment. We have DJs over a thousand weddings since 2008. It’s been an amazing journey so far and looking forward to many more years.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There is nothing smooth about being an entrepreneur. You will have failures. Though, with these failures creates opportunities of growth. Our biggest struggle was creating a multi-op DJ company. To hire DJs and to trust our contractors. It took some time to create a system that filtered out the bad DJs and to find what we were looking for to grow our brand. With a system in place that helps train our DJs for success, we now have over ten DJs that work for Graingertainment.

They don’t realize that I’m a Hip Hop snob. My love has always been hip hop and anytime. I’m encouraged to play Hip Hop, the audience is always in shock when I drop those bangers on them!
