Today we’d like to introduce you to Keisha Jordan.

Hi Keisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a mom, wife, lover of life, and life-long student. I’m from Orlando, FL but grew up in a small town in the Panhandle area. I’m always searching to learn new things no matter how small or complex it is. I believe my passion for learning and being challenged, led me to start my small business. The business, Kustoms by K.J., was birthed from a hobby. I would create gift baskets for friends and colleagues depending on the occasion, and it would be personalized based on the occasion, favorite things, etc. After spending quite a bit of money creating these baskets, a friend suggested I start putting my talent to use and make a profit so, in December of 2018, I decided to start a small business creating custom, one-of-a-kind gift baskets.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road to starting a business. I literally started without a business plan, no money, inventory, or a real concept of how this business would operate; for months, I didn’t receive a profit from the few sales I did receive. I also had a lot of self-doubts, I kept telling myself that what I was doing, anyone can do and wouldn’t purchase from me.

Kustoms by K.J. LLC. is a custom gift basket home-based small business. We are focused on providing affordable one-of-kind gift baskets with a high level of products and customer service. The business is owned and operated by Keisha Jordan. The mission of Kustoms by K.J. is to be a one-stop-shop for all gift-giving needs. We want to bring joy and inspiration into the lives of our clients by providing affordable one-of-a-kind gift baskets, all while providing a high level of customer service to all. Our main clientele is individuals seeking to purchase gifts for relatives, friends, and colleagues. We are different from others in that we typically do not offer pre-made baskets.

We stay true to our vision and mission by only providing a one-of-kind personalized and custom basket for all gift recipients. On occasion, we will offer pre-made baskets for holidays, such as Halloween and Valentine’s Day. What I’m most proud of with Kustoms is hearing the stories and seeing the reactions of my clients and the recipient after receiving one of my custom creations. That was the main reason for starting this business is to bring joy to others through gift-giving! We do personal shopping for the items, but we love adding personal touches to all the gifts we create and go to great lengths to find meaningful items to include. You have the option to ship or drop off any personal items you would like included in your basket. All of our gifts are packaged in high-quality wooden baskets, totes, or boxes. Our gift baskets are wrapped in clear cellophane. All gifts are tied with ribbon or custom accents (holiday, floral, etc.)

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
I believe we take risks in everything we do. When we set goals for ourselves, there is an element of risk there because there is no guarantee we will succeed at those goals. I see risks as a reason to keep pushing forward. Perseverance is greater than the risk.
