Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhakim Todman.
Hi Rhakim, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
At the early age of five years, I began playing the keyboard pressing the different keys that would create different melodies. This is the moment that my passion for music began as I watched my father turn knobs on the equalizer, trying to find the right frequencies for different genre music that would evolve through the speakers. My current path and goal in becoming an audio engineer and entrepreneur of my recording company “Press Da Button” has been great for the moment as I would use my younger keyboard melodies and apply it to different artists to help create songs, record, and mix them. As I continued to grow, I not only helped to create the artist’s songs but also applied this knowledge while watching how my father eq different music and applied it to my career.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To be honest, when trying to achieve major goals, it is never easy. However, my biggest challenge came while I was living back home in the British Virgin Islands and this was not having access to a studio on my own time. I must acknowledge a good friend of mine, Tony Smith, who willingly provided my friends and I with a trailer, which we then turned into our very own studio, Press Da Button Studio. As a young man in the music industry, I always aspired to learn and gain knowledge that would help me to improve my craft. This motivated me to relocate to Orlando, Florida, where I earned my degree in Recording Arts and my Master’s in Business and Entertainment at Full Sail University. Other than that, I am happy to say that I have received overwhelming support from my colleagues, older and younger ones in the community.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
