Inspiring Conversations with Tiphani Lee of Prop Champagne Decor and Rentals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiphani Lee.

Hi Tiphani, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Being the oldest of four children, I was always a little mature for my age. I was attached to my mother’s hip and always was her little helper. Over the years, I picked up many of her habits; being a planner is probably the one habit I often use the most. If anyone ever asks who to call to help plan an event, my number is probably not far away. From family gatherings to a girls’ weekend, to birthday parties, to group trips… the thrill of planning a celebration has always been a passion of mine. After planning my wedding with the help of whom I call a fairy godmother, I knew the event planning industry would be somewhere my feet would eventually dip into the water.

After becoming a new mom, I decided to take a leap of faith and start a small passion project which birthed Prop Champagne Decor and Rentals. At the peak of a pandemic, I observed how celebrations, while not dissolving, were being held on a much smaller scale. I knew that if I wanted to jump into the industry, I had to be able to provide a service that was not only unique but fitting with the times. I started my company with the mindset that I wanted to offer props which added a POP to each event. My luxury champagne cart did exactly that. Standing seven feet tall, it offers a small way for guests to pop bottles and celebrate in style. So far we have been booked for birthday parties, anniversary banquets, business grand openings, bridal showers, charity events, Bachelor tea parties, and weddings. My hope is to continue to offer props which make a lasting impact at any event where it may make an appearance.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Jumping into an industry where you have limited experience is always a learning opportunity. I can honestly say that I have faced very minimal challenges. I put myself in the perspective as if I am the client myself and the expectations I would set for any vendor I would personally hire.

* Be willing to accept help. My sister has been my right-hand man and always there to lend a hand if I’m ever in need.
* Being early to an event is a must. You never know what can happen during travel or even at set up.
* Be prepared to lose inventory as guests may walk away with a champagne glass, break a champagne glass, or want to enjoy their drink just a little longer than your expected event’s end time.
* Always have marketing materials available. You never know who may be interested in your business.
* Be willing to work with charitable organizations. The more you give, the more you will receive.
* Always offer help to other vendors who may need an extra set of hands; one day you may be the vendor in need.

Prop Champagne Decor and Rentals offers props that will make any event POP! We specialize in event rentals to support celebrations of any kind. What sets our brand apart from others is that the company was birthed with a focus to support the “new normal” of social events following CDC recommendations. Our champagne cart was also designed to support smaller-scale events while providing professional service to our clients.

As a brand, I am most proud of the connections I have made in such a small amount of time. During our first month in business, we were debuted with Yelp Tampa Bay on International Women’s Day for a giveaway. We were also able to participate in our first charity event with Children’s Cancer Center for their Champagne and Chukkers-themed polo event held at the Sarasota Polo Club. During this past month, we collaborated with local industry vendors to create a styled shoot with a garden party theme which are shown in the pictures shared.

Prop Champagne Decor and Rentals wants to support any and all special occasions in the Central Florida area and beyond. Service includes delivery, setup, and breakdown, with a la carte add-on services including balloon garlands, florals, charcuterie and dessert options.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
A combination of reading, music, and inspirational talks are my go-to when in need of a daily pick-me-up or to find a sense of balance. I am currently reading “The Other Side of a Mirror” by Orlando-based author CK Mulfort. While I am not big on podcasts, I frequently visit @iammiketodd’s page on Instagram and Youtube. I also enjoy the @iamathlete page on Instagram and Youtube. I am an avid listener of all things R&B and Gospel on Apple Radio.
