Inspiring Conversations with Titus Calloway of ReLo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Titus Calloway.

Titus, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2016 I moved from NY down to Florida alone. Didn’t know anyone. Just wanted a change of scenery. And within three month’s time, I ended up homeless, even sleeping at a bus stop a few days. I landed a job but it literally took three weeks to receive my first check and I didn’t have that kind of time. I broke the law. Entering my job after hours so I could sleep and charge my phone to try and find a way out of the mess I was in but I had no options. One night I accidentally tripped the alarm and had to escape before the cops came to the office, sleeping outside once again. The next morning when I went into work, they called me into the boss office and found out what I was doing. They handed me $100 bucks and terminated my employment. I was literally on my last leg. But I never gave up hope. I would talk to God while I roamed the streets hungry and tired, asking when will I get out of this.

Luckily, I still had my phone and one day I connected with someone on a dating app who let me sleep on her couch a few weeks rent free to get back on my feet. If it literally wasn’t for that social app connection, I honestly don’t know where I would be. Fast forward to today, I’m happily married as two entrepreneurs with our beautiful children, moving into our new construction home in July.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely was not a smooth road. From being homeless to my wife testing positive for Covid-19 right before giving birth to our daughter, it has been a very challenging journey. Yet, we persevere because we have no other option. We want to leave a legacy for our children so we work hard and work together to conquer any challenge put before us.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about ReLo?
Well I speak for my wife and I because we are basically one and our story is intertwined in the unpredictable life of entrepreneurship. My wife owns a beauty school/salon in New Tampa while I recently launched a social app that originated from my own relocation journey called ReLo. ReLo is the world’s first social app for relocating families and global travelers connecting people together via their destinations. The goal is to build pre-move online communities that transforms into post move, offline communities, anywhere in the world. We also partner with home goods and service providers to create an online marketplace for our moving users and working on expanding the platform to a tool for military relocation.

Although we’re early in the journey, we’re in talks with investors and global partners who see ReLo as a game changer for moving & travel industries. There’s other tech companies, websites and service providers that help people in the relocation process but none have thought to focus on the social element involved with relocating. That’s a major gap that we identified. People may have successful moves but the “starting over” can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, stressful and other times, a failure. This causes people to move backwards rather than forward. With ReLo, not only do we plan to help you move logistically but also socially. As we feel this is key in the new world we live in, post covid.

What’s next?
I plan to introduce ReLo to a global market as the world’s first social relocation platform. To transform the way people move and travel across the world. Hopefully, one day (not trying to be too optimistic), get acquired by a big travel or real estate company or IPO. But my personal end game is to exit the company, start a new company, repeat then become a philanthropist and invest in minority communities.
