Inspiring Conversations with Allen Hamlette of HAMLETTE FITNESS, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allen Hamlette

Hi Allen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The first time I ever trained with weights was at “The Weight Room” in my high school. The weight room was hardly even a room. It was a beat-up portable school trailer. There was a desk, a few Olympic benches and racks, and an old weight machine with stacked weights crammed inside. We had very few resources there, and being in the middle of the desert made it hard. It was ugly in there, hot with no circulation, and couldn’t fit more than eight people. I LOVED IT! There was energy and camaraderie in the weight room and accountability to the other guys who spent hours there in the summer.

As I got older, I still enjoyed the same things about training facilities, and my friends and training partners would come to me for more advice. I never thought much about training as a profession, but I offered pointers for free for a long time. Fast forward many years, training sessions, and training tips, then I finally started to hear people when they said, “You should be a personal trainer!”

It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I never saw HAMLETTE FITNESS in my future, but I’m glad I was receptive to others who might have.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting HAMLETTE FITNESS was not smooth at first. I studied, passed the tests, and gathered the confidence to start. I had a few clients early that helped me prepare mentally, and they let me know I belonged in the fitness arena. That was not the hard part.

I planned the initial launch for April 2020 after my wife and I returned from our Las Vegas trip. Instead, we watched in shock as the world slowly descended into chaos and shut down around us from COVID-19. It was a huge setback; however, I used the available time to prepare and fine-tune my operation. The first thing I did was train at the base of my driveway every weekday at 11:30 am. As the days turned into weeks and months, I ensured my neighbors saw me get outside and be active. I trained for the number of sessions I envisioned daily. I positioned myself as a resource among my neighbors when we had to keep our relationships close. Then, as restrictions began to ease and people socially distanced, I branded tee shirts to ensure my neighbors and peers could see the movement I wanted to build– then invited everyone to join!

Sometimes, staying true to a vision is hard when you’re the only one who sees the direction. People put their insecurities and fears on you and can plant a seed of doubt within you. Questions like: Where do I find people who need my service? Can people even use my service? Why would they pay ME to do this? Am I worth it? Luckily, I am very optimistic (and stubborn), so I know I will reach my goal with focus and patience. Of course, my service is important! Still, it’s hard to focus on little wins when the big win is the goal. To be a business owner means to have unwavering confidence in myself and my service. I find ways to put my hands on the plow and move forward without looking back.

We’ve been impressed with HAMLETTE FITNESS, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My goal is to be the go-to fitness resource for Horizon West, Windermere, and Orange County. I’m here to make fitness fun and simple for everyone. We have to give ourselves grace, we do the best we can, and we keep showing up!

People see me and assume I have a drill sergeant style where I blow loud whistles and holler at my clients. I’m quite the opposite! Through HAMLETTE FITNESS, I start at a comfortable pace and, with my client, build a foundation that allows them to grow. We create long term habits that empower them to live without jeopardizing their relationships with fitness or food. We laugh and make fitness enjoyable instead of it being a chore.

Clients who participate in group training enjoy a social fitness atmosphere with similar people. Individual clients get a personalized experience at their home or desired facility, so fitness is at their convenience within the busy day.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
HAMLETTE FITNESS training revolves around ranges of motion with a general focus on weight training. If we were on an island and had to choose ONE way to train, I always recommend weight training. Still, I’ll keep workouts fun and interesting with mobility and stability training, stretching, cardio and even kickboxing. I use a combination of styles to keep training fresh and challenge the body.

I’d be honored to be a fitness resource for you, your group, and organization. I offer individual training in 30, 45, and 60 minute sessions. I also offer group and corporate training with more details at HAMLETTEFITNESS.com!
