Today we’d like to introduce you to Aramide Dada.
Hi Aramide, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been fascinated by hair from a young age. At the age of four, I moved to Nigeria with my grandparents. In Nigeria, I spent hours watching our house-help braid. I enjoyed watching her braid and was inspired to start my own braiding business. However, my caretakers encouraged me to focus solely on my education. And I did so until I moved back, at the age of 10, to the United States. Initially, I forgot my passion for hair and mainly focused on school. However, things changed when I wanted to relax my hair. Everyone warned me about the damage it could cause, so I turned to YouTube to learn how to care for relaxed hair and prevent damage. That’s when I stumbled upon natural hair and braiding videos and got hooked. Throughout high school, I practiced different styles on my mom, friends, and cousins, to build my skills and portfolio. In college, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I did a friend’s hair for her Spring Break trip, and suddenly, I had a lot of college students reaching out to get braids. That’s when Curlz of Glory was born. I built my brand not only on the college campus but also in the city.
I provided clients with a great experience by treating them with respect, attending to their hair care needs, and advising them on better care for their hair. During this time, I perfected braiding and created the Restorative Hair Serum to support hair growth and health. After graduating college, I worked as a salon assistant, learning the ropes of customer service and salon management. Two years later, I took a leap of faith and got my salon suite. Now, I focus on giving my clients top-notch care—from deep conditioning to steam treatments—all aimed at helping them maintain their natural hair effortlessly. Today, Curlz of Glory isn’t just a salon; it’s a place where professional women can come to celebrate their natural beauty. Whether it’s intricate braids or hair care advice, I’m here to make sure every client leaves feeling relaxed, beautiful, and confident.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey to building Curlz of Glory has been anything but smooth. Just six months before moving into my salon suite, I was in a dark place. I had no job, struggled with depression, and barely had enough clients to cover my bills. Gaining new clients seemed like an impossible task, and I felt lost. Desperate for a change, I turned to selling my oils to alleviate my depression. Little did I know this would turn out to be a pivotal moment. As I engaged with people, selling oils became more than just a way to make ends meet—it became an opportunity to connect with others and understand their needs as potential clients. Over those six months of soul-searching conversations, I had an epiphany I needed to show up as my most authentic self. It was a risk, but one I knew I had to take.
From then on, I embraced my unique style, personality, and passion for natural hair. I stopped trying to fit into a mold of what I thought a successful stylist should be and started being true to myself. Miraculously, authenticity proved to be my greatest asset. Clients responded to my genuine approach, and many new clients soon sought me out. Word-of-mouth spread, and before long, Curlz of Glory began to thrive. Since then, my salon has become more than a place for hair styling—it’s a sanctuary where women come for braids and an experience that celebrates their natural beauty and individuality. Each client is treated as a customer and a valued individual whose journey I am privileged to be a part of. Today, as I reflect on my challenges, I am grateful for the lessons they taught me. They shaped me into the stylist and entrepreneur I am today—someone who understands the power of authenticity, connection, and the transformative impact of embracing who you truly are.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check?
In my journey as a natural hair stylist and entrepreneur, I’ve found inspiration and valuable insights through various resources that have shaped my approach to work and life. I believe in the power of continuous learning, and that means diving into books and podcasts that ignite my passion and drive for success.
Books that have shaped my perspective: One of the books that profoundly impacted my mindset is “10x is Easier than 2x” by Benjamin Hardy. This book taught me the importance of setting ambitious goals and taking massive action to achieve them—a philosophy that resonates deeply in my personal and professional endeavors. Another gem in my reading list is “Straight Talk” by Loretta Golden, which gave me invaluable wisdom in building strong relationships and a community of people supporting my vision.
Podcasts that fuel my growth: When it comes to podcasts, I find myself drawn to “Secret to Success” by Eric Thomas. I also listen to Myles Monroe for his insights into entrepreneurship, personal development, and achieving peak performance. These podcasts have been a source of motivation and practical strategies that I apply to enhance my business strategies, refine my skills, and stay ahead in a competitive industry.
The impact on my business: The knowledge gained from these resources isn’t just theoretical—it’s directly translated into how I run Curlz of Glory. From refining my client communication to implementing innovative hair care experiences, each insight has contributed to creating a salon experience that exceeds expectations. I strive to bring the same excellence and passion to my work that these resources have instilled.
