Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Smith.
Hi Christopher, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started in a food truck which was sold. I wanted to continue to cook and sell food. I found a building in Sanford that needed a lot of work. I worked on getting the building ready for opening. I knew that I was a great cook. I started selling all kinds of food, from soul food to seafood and chicken wings. After trial and error, I decided to focus on seafood. We are currently on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google, and several other social media platforms. We currently have 5-star reviews on Google and generate much business through word of mouth.
Can you tell us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth?
Business is always a challenging road. Trying to get started and finding good help takes a lot of work. Also, I am finding the right vendors and reliable help to assist. When I first opened up, my brother had a severe stroke, and I had to assist him with all of his needs. I lost many customers because I could not open the store. I could not give up; I had to keep going.
We’ve been impressed with Anglers Choice Seafood LLC, but for folks who might need to be more familiar with it, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Anglers Choice Seafood. You should know that we are a small business, and we treat all of our customers like family. We specialize in seafood and mainly live blue crabs. Customers from Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Mami, Tampa, and Gainesville, Florida, come to eat our seafood. What sets us apart is that we are Sanford’s hidden gem; we’ve been in business for 7 years until recently. We have become known on all social media platforms, family, and word of mouth, and we also do community events in the local Central Florida area. We are most proud of our quality of seafood and live blue crabs. That means providing our customers with meaty crabs and freshly caught seafood. We have created an atmosphere of love, family, and community at Angler’s Choice.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My love for God has carried me and my business thus far. I greet every customer with a smile or joke for the day. The success of Anglers Choice can be counted on one hand: honesty and loyalty from ourselves and our customers.
